Hi all, does anyone know if you can get a warranty from somewhere on a 1990 Import ZXTT. All the places I have tried will only cover cars newer than 10 years. Do you reckon I am fighting a losing battle??:(

Cheers

Hi Glenn, not to sure but i think Jeff at Zedworld can put you in touch with a company, allso, while back, someone here was selling Warranties, cant remember who!

Thanks Tony, I will do a search and see if anything comes up.

I don't know who it's with but the car i'm looking at from an import dealer is also a 90 and it comes with a 3rd party warranty. They are availabe somewhere.

Thanks Marty, I have found a couple that cover older cars but they all say you need a full service history, bit difficult with a Jap import, like you said there must be someone who will do it. Let me know if you find out.

Are you thinking of buying the one you mentioned???

Try Warranty Wise (on the net). I dunno the address but just type this into google and they should come up.

They have a CLASSIC policy which covers cars older than 10 years. Not sure if there is a maximum mileage though??

I got a quote on a 300ZXTT and it was under 300 quid for 12 months for a classic policy. Bear in mind though that it won't be as comprehensive as a 'normal' policy.

MOST OLDER CARS ARE COVERED BY A COMPANY CALLED WARRANTY HOLDINGS. I THINK THIS IS WHO JEFF DEALS WITH.

CERTAINLY HE LOOKS AFTER THE Z OF THE MD OF THE COMPANY

HOPE THIS HELPS.

My car, albeit only 9 years old, is covered by Warranty Holdings.

I had a wrranty on my Z with Warranty Holdings that I have just let lapse although they offered to renew it.

The problem is that with an old car, most failures are put down to fair wear and tear. This is not covered. Most policies ony cover mechanical breakdown. When for example my auto box failed totally. There were no broken gears, just belts, clutches etc, which were not covered, so I had to pay for the repair myself.

So take care. Even if you get a warranty it is not full guaranty cover.

They replaced my turbos without a quibble and I'm hoping that they will replace the clutch, too...although I'm going to have to speak to Johnny first as I'm not entirely convinced now that it IS the clutch....

Ajay, I just had the same stuff replaced on my scoob. The turbo was covered under the warranty without any questions asked but they wouldn't replace the clutch as it was just slip and not 'mechanical breakdown' as previously mentioned. Car is 8 years old though so dunno what a 10yr+ warranty will cover.

I look at a warrenty a while ago and came up with WarrentyWise, they quoted £270 for a '90 Zed. NOT the classic policy but the normal one.

The only small glitch I found was that at the time of any claim there must be more than 2 months remaining on the MOT - in other words you were only covered for 10 months of the year!

Good luck in your quest

Tim

Thing is, Marty - I'm not so sure now it IS the clutch...something just doesn't feel right about that.... I mean, there's no noise at ALL, there's no bite and you can put it into gear still....

When I rang Warrenty Wise they told me that the turbos weren't covered unless they'd been changed at 60,000miles

Thanks for all the good advice regarding warranties Gents. I shall make some phone calls and let you know the outcome.

Cheers:D
