Hi guys, I have a friend who's trying to sort out his TT engine, he's texted me to say he's got water apparently leaking out the bottom of his engine???

Any ideas what's up with that??

what colour is it ?

 

ie is it tainted with oil or looks like its straight from the coolant system ?

Assuming the lower plastic splash covers are off, where on the ground in relation to the engine (front/back left/right)

is the water appearing? And, as above is there oil in the water?

maybe time for a water bypass if its not done already.

Thanks mate .the water is the same colour I'm putting it in and the leak looks like it's in the middle of the engine towards the bottom

Likely a loose jubilee or cracked hose under the plenum.

 

Take the plenum off and strip it all out and do a bypass.

Theres a small hose right at the back of the engine which is prone to perishing and is difficult to see and change, it can be done by dropping one side of the exhaust but it is still not easy. Gearbox out may be your best way or plenum off and also do a bypass.

Water pump.
