Hi!

Had my rear subframe and fuel tank out in order to sort out some of the older flakey underseal around the rear of the car as a bit of a winter project, at the stage to reinstall my rear subrframe but I'm a bit lost when it comes to the HICAS steering ram at the rear, is it just a case of connecting the two input pipes and bleeding the system ? If so what is the procedure ?

Many Thanks

Will

I believe you just plug the two pipes in and refil the Power steering pot but I may be wrong.

The air in the system should flow up to the high point being the pot

Thanks ! I was hoping it would be fairly straight forward,

Just curious how many out there have working hicas systems ?

I have the rear hicas rack and im also re doing the under seal,

my hicas pipes have corroded so im trying my best to get hold of new ones,

I have in the past removed my rear rack for repairs and there is a bleeding procedure iirc, you need to put the hicas in diagnostic mode

so you can move the wheels left and right by using the steering wheel, then you bleed the nipples in turn.

how did you remove the underseal matey?

I stand corrected. I just thought that the rack may not have fully drained.

How many people still have HICAS and how many have fully functioning HICAS are two different things.

The majority of the underseal was pretty good , just a few patches flaking off but managed to shift the bad bits and some of the surrounding stuff using a grinder with a stiff wire wheel which worked fairly well and a course flap disk (about a 60 grit I think)I had lying about which again worked but was prone to getting clogged when the underseal heated up! Horrible job , I don't know what I'd do if I had to do the entire car haha!
