I'm not sure if this is the correct place to start a build/project thread so let me know if I need to move it elsewhere. On the 3rd of December I picked up a really nice fresh import from the lovely people at Torque GT in Devon. If anyone is looking to import a car I'd highly recommend them but that's another discussion.

I got a toy 300ZX when I was 4 and since then I've always wanted one. Getting a PS1 with Gran Turismo only made the obsession worse so for the past few years it's always been in the back of my mind to get one but I wanted to go all out and get the best one I could afford. Zelda is completely rot free, literally not a bit. I think she must have been garaged in Japan her whole life because it's just incredible and I'm very happy about it. Here are the pictures of the car I was given at the dockyard in japan prior to shipping. I was already excited when I saw these and I hadn't even seen the car in person yet.

That last one of the completely rust free underside made me especially pleased. When it arrived to the UK Torque GT took care of the registration, the MOT, changed all fluids and filters, changed the front discs and pads, two new rear tyres, full underseal protection, new speedo fascia and a HUD, a cambelt change as well as their 130 point check all within the asking price of the car! Literally all I had to do was go and sign the paperwork and get the keys to drive it home. My drive home was 180+ miles so it was a good chance to get to know the car a bit more and I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time. Took this as I parked it after driving home on the 3rd of December.

Got a few things in mind for it but it's lovely to drive as it stands so not in a rush :)

I also have a few more pictures but didn't want to overload the one post. Will put them up in a moment.

Cardboard and sticky backed plastic.

I was thinking more carbon fibre sheet. Relatively easy to get hold of when you work for a super car manufacturer [emoji6]

Thought I’d whack a few more pictures up as it’s been forever since I updated this. I really am useless when it comes to updating my own threads. Having said that not a huge deal has been done to it since then. I got round to fitting those lights I bought from Keith and had a Mongoose 2.5 inch catback fitted as can be seen in this picture.92d2b66eaa1608e053d2695c633b1639.jpg

It also had the knock sensor and rocker gaskets changed which turned into having pretty much the whole of the top of the engine stripped down and all the gaskets replaced. Cost a fair bit but at least it’s all spot on now and shouldn’t have to take it apart for a while again. At the time I also had some grey painted rocker covers and water pipes fitted to keep it looking OEM+ but a bit tidier.

As you can see, the injector seals were knackered so they’ve been replaced with new items too.

Other than that I’ve just been enjoying it and going to meets and shows with it etc.

A friend of mine who takes photos for Banzai took this awesome picture and then another friend of mine kindly turned it into a cheeky little illustration for me which is cool.

Forgot to mention (apologies for the barrage of posts, I’m a bit scatter brained right now). I got a nose panel with a black Z badge too when I bought Keiths rear lights. Much prefer it to the Nissan badge.

And before anyone says anything, yes it has been pointed out to me that the badge is upside down. Someone was kind enough to mention it over Facebook and I’ve now rectified this. [emoji23]

I also fitted a dildo gearknob, I don’t know why. I’ve now removed it. God knows what I was thinking

Not digging the rear lights at all, but the car looks really lovely Joe. :)

Cheers mate, I just can’t stand the orange indicator lenses, not overly keen on 99 spec ones and quite liked the tinted look of these. I have plans afoot to make my own custom tinted LED ones though using the standard housings. I’ve bought two spare pairs which I can cut up and *******ise as I see fit without having to ruin the original ones that came on it. I’m going to try and keep it tasteful but we’ll see how it pans out.

Also regarding the Mongoose exhaust. I’ve had it a few months now and perhaps I’m a chav at heart but I think I want something louder [emoji23]

And finally just to wrap up today’s updates. My car was recently used for a TV show. I’m not allowed to say which one at this point and it didn’t exactly have a starring role but it was cool nonetheless. Once the show has been aired I’ll post up about my experience here because I had a brilliant time.

If the original rear lights are a clean as the rest of the car then I think you should sell them.

Did I say that I’m after a good set?

Haha, they are in great condition but I shan’t be selling them I’m afraid. I’m keeping all the original parts wrapped up in storage should I ever want to put it back to original. My plan is to make sure anything I do to this car is reversible. Thank god that gearknob was reversible! [emoji38]

Did Jimmer do all the engine work?

No, the other person did before things got interesting. Everything has been spot on since though and it’s been at least 6 months now so I won’t say any more on it.

Sorry to be 'that guy', but the badge is on upside down :innocent: Looks better though. Could perhaps give the front bumper a buff :)

I also did one of those vector sketches a long time ago.

That one strip of paint below the headlights is the only part of the car that isn’t the original paint and it’s the only part of the car where I’m not happy with the paint. I’ll have to get it resprayed at some point, it needs it anyway after it got pebble dashed at the AGM.

Haha yeah, I don’t know how these things come about to be honest. I don’t actively seek publicity or anything. Maybe I should try and bit harder and see if I can become some kind of irritating internet celebrity [emoji23]
