what sort of jobs would/have you taken on & what level of jobs would you get someone else to do??

Featured Replies

I can fill up with petrol, change washer bottle and.... err.... err.... Stop the Bonnet Squeaking...

Oil and filter change and I changed the oil pressure sender unit and the plugs. Took me a full day and I had terrible back ache for about a week after:D

I will be attempting a rear wheel bearing after Xmas so I am having panic attacks thinking about it.

Done by me

Fitted Traction Control.

Retrimmed interior.

Fitted Turbo Timer.

Oil & Filter Change.

Replaced Side inicators (very hard :D)

Got someone else to do it

60k service.

Brake upgrade.

i found my technical limit several years back when i placed a fast road cam into my astra GTE, polished the port holes, ground the valve seats etc. Engine went in ok and started and car ran for a while. Big problem occurred when going a ton down the m27 and i blew a con rod out the side of the engine block:eek:

all engine work stopped there, and now i do next to nothing, especially now i have a zed.

cheers

steve

even just spelling that job is hard!! ;) :D

I have;

1. Fitted new side repeaters!!!

2. Fitted new headlamp bulbs!!!!

3. Fitted a Razo auto gearknob (20 minuite job Mr Mac, yeah right!)

4. Today I cleaned the throttle boddies.

I generally leave anything that involves jacking the car up to the experts, dont fancy a ton and a half of zed on my chest!!

I have taken out (and soon replaced) an intercooler.

Changed the timing belt (with the added bonus that my other belts now squeel and steam pores out of the radiator!).

Changed (and adapted) the fuel pump.

Changed the fuel filter.

Stopped the AIV's making that stupid noise.

Pumped up the front right tyre many times as it has a really slow puncture.

I'm such a pro mechanic!! :D

I`m scared!

When me Zed was in for its shiny new 99 front bumper and I had me old MR2 again, I carried out an intermediate service, changed the complete exhaust system and replaced all four injectors.

That was the MR2.....the Zed I wouldn`t touch with a barge pole! I know my limits and the Zed is waaaay beyond them. Like I said......I`m scared! Maybe I`d top up fluids if needed but that is as far as it goes!

gurgleing noise behind front wheel arches.

goosehonk is the recirc valves gone weak.

Dam you beat me to it. I was just playing under my engine and realised that the AIV noise is the front fender noise not the recirc. Its the old drill a hole trick. Sorry for being a little slow tis morning.

I'm still a little ill :(

Taking out the casting flashings on Monday and waiting for your engineering shop to open after New year! To Sort out the Block:mad:

Since you Asked??????????

Get back to fixing your Nazi Carts:D

For me to have a car like a 300, my own opinion is that most garages will see pound signs when you arrive for them to work on your car. Most dealers have a reputation of quality on the surface, good image and all that crap but underneath give a poor service well below the standards expected.

Everybody has good and bad experiences with garages whether it be main dealer or small fry.

I work in a main dealer (all be it commercial vehicles) and daily see the things that go on whereby customers get shafted, things get covered up, forgotten to be tightened, all the usual so to be honest i would attempt anything on my 300 b4 putting it in a garage, especially a main dealer.

Have replaced n/s/f wheelbearing,

Removed inlet manifold thinking it was rocker cover gskts leaking oil but it wasnt,

Am gonna be doing timing belt/camshaft seals soon:D

Tools are a big problem though, i am lucky to have access to a press, pits etc, but it is still a daunting car to work on especially engine wise..

Just my 2p's worth

John Crisp 300 ZX TT UK

I have:-

Cleaned TB's

Re-set ecu

Changed centre console

Fixed stereo wiring

Replaced n/s/f abs sensor

Replaced abs ecu

Changed headlamp bulbs

Re-trimmed o/s boot trim

Fitted targa straps

Renewed drivers seat belt

Cleaned under-bonnet connectors

Fixed-up coil pack connector

Cleaned out air filter box

And more.............
