Okay so had a report back from the body shop saying that apparently the larger SMICs I have are causing the fresh paint to crack? Although I'm nearly 100% sure they weren't touching the bumper when it went in there.

I'm not with the car so I can't clarify but has anyone heard of/had any issues of this nature?

Did they take the bumper off to paint it?

If it is touching take the bumper off and try your best to reposition them.

They did take it off to paint it yeah. I'm not sure why it would cause an issue now though? The intercoolers weren't moved

I'm just going on the possibility that it could and that the bumper may be mounted very slightly differently/tightly. Only you can really check to see if they are touching and a problem, is it going to cost you a lot to respray/blend that section in?

We've had a lot of work done with them in this long months of it being there, I would expect them to blend this very low cost just because of how much has been done with them.

I will ring tomorrow to tell them to adjust and check clearances but wanted to know if anyone has had issues with this

I have this issue on mine, what Intercoolers are you running? I have the Z1 and had a really tough time getting the bumper straight and lined up after installing, you can also see a little bulge down low each side if you look very closely. Right where yours is cracked.

It annoys me, to say the least. But after dealing with a some American companies lately I have found that words like "bolt-on" and "oem fitment" has a different meaning over there....

Z1 sizing but not actually Z1. I assume there's nothing that can be done to stop it hitting and bulging?

I don't know how you mounted it but I custom made brackets and had to make them really right to pull the intercoolers away from the bumper.

Nah, I suspect you would need to customize the brackets to pull the closer. Or get a jdm front bumper ?

Did you remove your carbon canister Rhys?? Might free up a bit of room on your passenger side:thumbup1:

I haven't removed the carbon canister or the overflow tank. Do you think I should tell them to remove these for more room? What effect will it make?

It would help the passenger side definitely, but from what I recall you have to reroute some pipes for the fuel tank breather? Someone could probably clarify. Removing the overflow tank wouldnt really help as it's behind the intercooler and not in the way too much. For the drivers side just loosen the hoses and make it as bloody tight as you can to the body. I used a jack on the bottom of mine to lift it up to get the brackets on tight.

I will tell them to adjust it before messing with custom brackets. Thanks for the help!

Ive seen this many times and its poor installation 9 times out of 10,All the deletes are not necessary to fit them,ASH SPEC massives fit fine,Z1 and Bells fit better with custom brackets but these are huge smics.

I removed both the CC and washer bottle, even with custom brackets, when I fitted my Twinz front bumper I had to pull the ICs hard, towards the centre of the car. Fag paper clearance between the inside of the bumper.

I just need enough to get rid of the bulge. I'd take fag paper clearance!

Really really right zip ties ;)

If I undo my IC bracket bolts the ICs spring outwards by approx 15-20mm. That's how much they are forced inwards, I had to slacken off the IC piping as well to get more movement.

Seems strange that they causing an issue now though, where before there was none.
