Posted October 3, 20168 yr Hi All, those of you that don't know me, I have Purple Haze a JDM 1998 TT LWB Auto 140000Klicks (87K miles) on the clock. I am about to renew my insurance and have no idea what the value is today? I know what I paid for her last year, what work I have done, Mongoose Cat Backs, HID replacement, Waxoiled, new boots and Serviced but what do I insure her for? Would appreciate any advice chaps, Footman wanted another 50 odd quid over last year and Lancaster seem to have come good when I said 8K value and 3K miles per year, BUT is 8K right. I have to send in 6 photos, engine bay, interior, outside, alloys and they said they can work out the value from that, sounds a bit mad to me. Anyway, any advice is welcomed....cheers Edited October 3, 20168 yr by BedZee Man
October 3, 20168 yr Having seen your Z at Coventry Chris I would say at lest 8k mate but the way prices are going it should be a lot more next year.

Thanks mate.
October 4, 20168 yr Just be careful with the Insured value. Its meaningless unless its a specialist Agreed Value insurance, typically they will require you send proof of value in the form of Photo's and even an Independent valuation before its all agreed. With a regular Insurance policy they only use the Insured value you put as a way of quoting an Insurance price, and if you ever come to actually claim on it then they just look at Market Value (which is obviously very hard to do with the Z, especially a rare late model one like yours).

Cheers Yowser, Lancaster stated they need photos but I will ensure the car is insured with an Agreed Insurance Value before I commit. How does one get an Independant Insurance Value normally?

How does one get an Independant Insurance Value normally? My Insurance at the moment is with Footman James and I asked for an agreed value for my Z and they did so on my value they only asked me what way I valued it and I explained it was valued by todays prices. But some companies will ask for photo's and even an independent valuation from a club.

October 12, 20168 yr Author Cheers All, sent the photos etc to Lancaster so let's see, as I have 140km on the clock I have rated it at £8.5k. Let's see what they say.
