As title folks - the NEC 2016 is almost upon us; and we need 4 of the very best cars this club has to offer, in order to represent the Z32 and club on the world stage.

Dates for the show are:

Thursday 10th November - be there around 9am for set-up

Friday 11th, Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th November - show open to the public

Sunday 13th November - remain until after the show closes, dismantle and leave

Your car will be locked in for the entire duration - no exceptions; and no chance of arriving later or leaving earlier.

You do not have to remain with it; although your assistance in manning the stand over the weekend would be appreciated. And if you can't stay, then you'd have to entrust your keys to one of the committee on hand over the weekend. Just in case of emergencies!

The club has booked (twin) rooms at the Ibis hotel; the cost of which is covered by us. Albeit you'll be expected to share with another participant. Meals etc are not covered, you will be expected to pay for your own food...

Time is now of the essence, this thread is not a debate; or for opinions to be voiced. If you have a Zed which you feel will meet the required standard; and are willing to participate and able to commit to the whole weekend, then you are welcome to volunteer....! We had a few potential volunteers from our thread back in January - if you're still up for it, please let us know ASAP. This thread will be closed on Sunday evening, so what are you waiting for......

I have offered my vert if one of each is whats wanted, but its no where near the condition of the other cars

I honestly thought there'd have been more people wanting to pounce on an opportunity like this...

My ideal stand at something like this would be one example of each body style: so a LWB, a SWB T-Top, a Slicktop and a Vert. I think that'd be seriously eye-catching for visitors to the show! :thumbup1:

keep the doors locked Tom:yes:

Lol good idea mate, the windows are slightly tinted. It's not that bad to be honest just being picky.

Sorry to hear that Tony - still, your car is in the right place if you want it fixed. Hope it's nothing major...:clover:

Broken crankshaft. Jimmers going to rebuild the original engine

We have......

1. Joel - natural choice as his car won the vote in Coventry

2. Mondo - a SWB; and again, another vote winner at Coventry

3. IanL - our choice from the (rare) convertible camp

4. Funky Si - another fine example, enough said!

I hope you all agree - these guys will certainly do the club proud...

How did we arrive at this result?

Just purchased my tickets online for Saturday.

What would be the best time to visit the stand?

Just want to make sure I get a chance to meet up with as many members as possible.

How did we arrive at this result?

I second this, while I want to tread carefully, (and please no offence intended), Ian's vert top is a bit scruffy. I don't know the condition of sudeshes car, but jonyboy's very is very clean if not unfortunate being a strosek.

Just saying there wasn't a lot of public discussion to debate the best cars etc.

Nice cars in the lineup anyway. joelys and funkySis are the perfect examples for the NEC, and mondo's shows light mod potential and interior craftmanship. I'm not going so in a way my opinion is irrelevant but would have been worth open discussion imo.

Easy really Chris. Firstly it was down to volunteers - naturally - as we need people to commit their cars and themselves for the duration.

Joel and Mondo both volunteered - and considering they each won awards at Coventry (Joel got 2; including the best car at the show) and Mondo for best interior - they already have the members' endorsements.

We then agreed with the various comments about having different versions of the Z32 on the stand. We already had our SWB with Mondo - and IanL was the only person with a 'vert to step up. Ian's car is a tidy example, so why not?

For the 4th and final car, it was a tough decision between 3 or 4 extremely fine cars.... One which ultimately came down to colour. We already had a red (Joel), a blue (Ian) and a silver (Mondo). So to ensure a contrast, we went white with Funky. Simples!

You honestly can't type a statement like that and seriously use the caveat "No offence intended"...

I'm hoping Ian has his hood down for the duration, so problem solved.

So this is to be considered a fair result? With no poll or member feedback other than that given at Coventry? Personally I feel this is poor club spirit.

It is a great line up of cars no doubt, but how we arrived at that line up I feel was wrong......

If you read earlier he said his vert is not the best standard, I'm just being specific to make a point, not trying to degrade his car.

Jonnyboy did not offer his car for the show.

This is pretty much the problem. We didn't really have much to choose from so I understand, even if there will be more pristine examples out there.

Points noted Ali - and whilst there might well be other convertibles out there, I did not see any of their owners volunteering. Correct me if I'm wrong mate:wink: Ian stepped up - he has a nice convertible - so why not...... And I'm confident his car will look just fine, once on the stand!

As for the debate, that's why I posted this thread in the first place. We can debate as to whom the best cars belong to, but unless the owners are ready, willing and able, there's little point in considering other, theoretical) options. That, and the time available! From Oct 9th (the last post on this thread before today), we had 4 weeks to firm up everything and, with other potential exhibitors dropping out, we therefore had to decide quickly.....

So what about all the owners who back in January put their hand up for this..... Committing to something 10 months in advance gave plenty of time for choice IMO......

Again, point taken Chris....

.....But considering the number of volunteers (read this thread from post number 1 and count them mate) - and then consider those who might have withdrawn during the PMs that followed - and you pretty much have the cars that have been chosen.

No poor club spirit at all mate. We have 4 spaces - our members have already endorsed 2 of those during the votes at Coventry - so choosing 2 more cars from a final line up of just 2 or 3 people who can 100% definitely commit to the show, does not need a full-on poll when we are pushed for time to book everything!

Yes - which is why THIS thread went up. I agree, back in January, many many more people did put their hand up. However, when THIS thread went up - much nearer the time - that number had dwindled. A lot! No point in referring back to January, if those people did not (or could not) come forward now!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I appreciate people may have committed and later dropped out, but even if there were only 2 cars to choose from it should IMO have been a members choice.

So who would you have chosen out of the 6 (yes, only 6) cars that were volunteered for this?

Irrelevant as I didn't get a vote when it mattered.

Why? If there were only 2 cars left to chose from - and 2 spaces to fill - it's job done, isn't it?

Don't go all shy now. I'm getting the impression that you're not completely happy with the line-up so, again, who would you have chosen?
