Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the right part of the forum it seems a little here and there so if i am in the wrong place let me know and i will move it!!

I have been a fan of the 1993 300zx for quite a while the outstanding style and power was just something i could not forget so..... I wen't and treated myself to a Nissan 300zx about a year ago in a metallic red colour and don't get me wrong great all round car handles like a dream for it's age, very fast and the sound that comes out is just amazing... Beautiful peace of machinery. Had a few little bumps along the way but nothing to serious. Any way i am looking to add the a spoiler i prefer the look when the 300zx have spoilers. Now i'm not much of a mechanic or customization wiz so bare with me, i have been looking at nissan 300zx spoiler classified ads and for sale sites which has been successful but do they all fit my 300zx or do they come in different sizes for the different years?? Also i assume this is right but the spoiler will be the same red as mine??

If you could help me out it would be a massive bonus/customization to my motor it has been looking for something for a while now and i think the spoiler is the answer!!

I will place some specs below that i think might help with my questions..

SPECS

Year: 1993

Model: 300zx....

Production years for the series: 1990 - 1999

Exterior dimensions: Width - 70.901in / Height - 49.201in

I think that should do it, if you need anymore specs please let me know and i will add them on. Any help, advice, information would be greatly appreciated, the spoiler would be a really good edition to my 300zx

Looking forward to reply's and chatting to everyone

Thanks guys

Years are no problem, the years all share the same tailgates. That is a swb but I haven't really seen any problems fitting a lwb spoiler to a swb.

The one you are looking at is the oem 89spec however there are a ton of replicas around so be careful about fitment with them.

Oh and that one has bolts that bolt into the tailgate.

Production years were 1989-2000. There were three standard spoilers in that period: the one you posted for a 1993 model, then this "boomerang" shape:

Then this final edition (my car):

Any of those three spoilers will fit your car, but they might not fit between 2 seater and 2+2, which do you have? I don't think any of them are still available new, so you'd be limited to getting one second-hand or getting a replica (there are some good ones available). There are some nice aftermarket spoilers out there too, but I'd stick with a standard one personally.

In any case, you'll probably need to get it painted to match. The colour code (three digits) for your car should be on the chassis plate under the bonnet.

Pictures of your car? Import or UK Spec?

OEM spoilers have a combination of bolts, screws, plastic clips and adhesive strips depending on the three variations (pictured above) to

fix to bodywork.

Aftermarket are normally made from fiberglass copies of the OEM and fitted in a similar fashion (without the plastic clips) and use Sikaflex

or equivalent adheasive. Quality does vary alot between the makers and is worth asking the about the experience of fitment of a particular

copy beforehand.

I'm personally going for a Twinz design rear spoiler, similar to the '89 spec but sleeker lines, mines not fitted yet but the test fit was excellent

Mine is a 2 seater UK spec.. must admit that Twinz spoiler is nicccceeee I have found this spolier on this site http://www.for-sale.ie/bmw-z3 which looks nothing like what you have shown me so it looks like a fake already or possibly not for my model??

I am going to look for a classified section on here see if i get any luck there

It can only be JDM spec if it's a RHD 2 seater?

I think you poster the wrong link for the spoiler.

You're looking at Z3 parts which are BMW bud, you need to look for either 300zx, Z32 or Fairlady ads as these are Nissan:thumbup1:

Old thread revival, basically i'm after opinions on the best replica of the early 89 spoiler?, my most recent zed has some sort of copy/replica minus the brake light but the fit is terrible, and there's a massive gap between the taillights and the spoiler when the bootlid it closed,

so who has one and recommends a good fitting version?

The best ones are rumoured to be the KarumaZ one. AndrewG has a spare he might be willing to part with. Both he and I were very fortunate in being able to obtain the last two brand new genuine foam/metal composite OEM ones as neither he or I have seen any top quality OEM replica spoilers, but the KarumaZ one is about the best you're going to get.

If you're willing to deviate very slightly, then you can't go wrong with a TwinZ rear spoiler, type 1 or type 2 are the only ones to go for. Check out photos of JoelyP's for inspiration.

You sure you are not missing the OEM trims (arrowed). And yes I do have a KarumaZ rear spoiler ('89 spec) spare. It will require

work to make it fit properly, but has the best surface finish (for a fibreglass replica).

You sell the KarumaZ?

Thanks, yeah i've seen the Twinz ones, but i just cant see passed the stock one tbh, i want my car to be as close to factory as possible.

actually looks like there is something missing, as i don't have these, but the actual centre of the spoiler below where the brake light would be curves upward, its hard to explain so i'll get a picture of it.
