(Pics) Help! Mystery Box under carpet and year of Car

Hey guys, I've got what I've been told is a 1989 z32 NA 2+2 Auto T top.

Not sure because as it's an import RHD the Model Number doesn't jive with any breakdown I've found... WOULD REALLY LIKE CONFIRMATION (Pic below, anyone care to decipher?)

I've gutted the car, and don't know what this box is or what is does, as you can see it wires go under each seat, through grommets to the outside of the bell.

And there, 2 broken wires in the braided loom that appear to go to nothing.

Hi, that box and braided cable is for the EGT function...Exhaust Gas Temperature.

I thought them wires were cat overheat sensors in cats .

Full description of the VIN (which is a different format from other markets):

Description: AT

Colour code: KH2

Body: Z32

Model Code: KRGZ32JAHWE5

Model: FAIRLADY Z

Code of upholstery: G

Month of production: October 1989

They are cat overheat temp sensors, if you no longer have cats, rip it out :thumbup1:

Very hard to see as I tucked them away, but it goes to a cat temp sensor which plugs into the rear of the cat.

I fitted decats so they are no longer in use.

Also your car might also have Aiv hoses which go into the exhaust to 'cheat' emissions, but they can be removed also if you don't have cats.

If you still have the cats, probably easiest to leave it how it is.

If you require a replacement because you still have the cats installed, give me a shout mate. I have the exact set up on my series one breaker and you are more than welcome to come take it off free of charge..

tha ks guys for the replies! ya im in canada. lol

i would think the only ourpose is to tell the computer to turn on the CEL, wouldnt effect performance at all would it?

Pull cables though. Remove bulb. Forget.

This might be a dumb question, but if you pull the cables through and remove the grommet, won't i have a hole in my floor?
