Joel1993 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Alright... just had my timing done and car runs 10 times sweeter. However... I have hunting idle which I have had for a bit now. I thought it would be something to do with the timing but it's not. The boost gauge on cold engine on idle is reading the second line from the -7 which I think that's too close to the middle than it ever halls done before. There is little smoke from the exhausts but not much. When driving there is no smoke and hot idle no smoke either. What could this be? I'm after a range of different answers here :) Thankyou Quote
Chris Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 AFAIK that vacuum is a bit low so I would start with a boost leak test, then maybe compression test if that doesn't bring anything up Quote
Joel1993 Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 Yeah. The clutch and brake booster hoses were split slightly. Changed then and it's a bit better but not 100 percent Quote
lonezedder Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 A poorly MAF can cause poor idle. You asked for a range of answers....:) Quote
Old Zed Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Get it hooked up to Conzult, and get the sensors checked plus a power test, that should give you a good indication of whats working properly and engine health. Quote

Joel1993 Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 Strong spark? I do believe so mate. But it's something to check... no problems at high rpm... just idle Quote
Joel1993 Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 Right just to let people know. The problem with hunting idle is sorted. Was the clutch booster pipe and stuff. Sorted now. However I have white smoke which smells like fuel coming from the drivers side exhaust... passenger one is sound. Could this be a injector problem? They are only about 3 year old though Quote
