So, I've done it... After toying with the idea for a while now, I've just registered for next years Ironman UK triathlon.

For those that don't know the event it consists of a 2.4mile open water swim, 112mile bike course and finishes with a full 26.2mile marathon run at the end. I did this event back in 2014 but literally haven't done any fitness since (probably because I was sick of the sight of my bike by the time I finished it!!)

So here goes, the training starts now. I completed it in 15hrs last time so that was my line in the sand... I aim to beat this next year!

That is a great looking bike with decent spec too! I may actually consider that one. Mine is a Boardman at present and its been a great bike... Did my last ironman on it but its time to upgrade to carbon now

happy riding mate

Its the propel advanced 2... Not quite £4k though! They did have a top spec propel in the showroom that I bought it from at £6500 though! That's crazy imo. I got a really good deal on this though and I can definitely feel the difference to my 8 year old Boardman which has always been a great bike.

Update on training so far... Pretty happy with the amount of training I'm doing at the moment. Still managing to get out even though the weather is making it more difficult.

Cycled into work today as it wasn't too bad this morning but regretted it on the way home. The wind and rain was so strong I couldn't even stay in a straight line and most of the roads were starting to flood.... Not fun at all:no:

I really need to get back on it... Had a few weeks off down to sickness and time. Struggling to fit anything in at the moment. Hoping to get out for a few runs this week though

I know, it doesn't help as I'm currently living at the in laws house whilst we get our kitchen done. The routine is messed up. Managed to get out to do a 4 mile run tonight, only steady but I'll get back out at weekend for more.

Seriously need to get on with the plan now though!

Good luck tomorrow!

hows it going, hoping training is going well, ive just done a 10k pb of 43 mins but got injured, think im gonna stick to trail runs, i do a lot better in them, juts got back on the bike after a long time off over the winter, i trained all last winter and was doing good but struggled this time

hope the training is going well mate

Keep it up guys. I did my first 12k last week. 1 hour 4 seconds, legs ached for a day or two. Been out this morning for a five miler, when I started my original 1.6miles felt hard. Booked in now and committed to my first half Marathon in October. Hope to be near your time Stella.

Thats a fantastic time that Stella, nice one!!

Unfortunately, I've had to pull out of Ironman for this year. I've had so much going on this year and was having to work longer hours at the start of the year which messed up my training. It started to stress me out as I knew I wasn't doing enough but I've also needed to prioritise finishing the house off as we have a baby due the week after Ironman which again it's pushing it fine with that too!

Took the decision that something had to get dropped as I was burning myself out. Not been out running or cycling for a few months now but I'm going to start easing myself back into it soon and then look to do Ironman in a couple of years again when my little girl is old enough to cheer me on! I will definitely be doing it again just this year turned out not to be the right year.

Keep up your training though, looks like your doing really well:)

thanks guys, yeah training was going well, went into sunderland 10k injured but didnt realise it was serious, turned out to be a pulled piriformus muscle, knocked me right back in training, just did the sunderland harrier penshaw hill race and was a min slower than training, bit gutted but thats running, the sunderland 10k is tough as its very hilly but was hoping for a dub 43 maybe around 42:30ish but again injuries played a part but still pleased with 43 mins 1 second lol

hope ya get back into it mate, hard trying to juggle life around training, im gonna beast the bike sessions this week, see if the less impact will help the injry
