Last year, I organised a "group buy" over on the 350Z forum for retrims. The reason I did it over there first is because they only have two seats which (in theory, anyway) meant I could keep the waiting time down to a minimum.

But I've been here for a few years now so I'm considering setting one up for Z32 owners on this fine forum. :thumbup1:

There would be a couple of rules and stipulations, so here they are:

The discount would be a maximum of 25%, which would be entirely dependent on the numbers involved. If I did it the same as the 350Z one, it'd be as follows: 5 to 9 members total would get a 15% discount, whereas 10 or more members would all receive a 25% discount!

The group buy would only go ahead once at least 5 (or 10) participants had paid their relevant deposits.

The minimum requirement for this would be seats (either front two, or all four).

Delivery would not be included in any costings.

There would be no limits on materials or designs or anything like that - the only limits would be your imagination (and the depth of your pockets ;) ).

Realistically, any work for this GB wouldn't be taking place until mid-2017 by my reckoning, so that's something else to bear in mind.

So, with all that said, might there be many (or any!) members interested in such a thing....?

Discuss. :)

Nice idea Si, thoughtful of you I suppose to give back to the club.

I can't see the depth of my pockets into 2017 so i'll wait this one out, but good luck to everybody else ;)

A GB for steering wheel retrim would be great Si if so im 1st on the list.

LOL......Second mate.....

Afraid not, guys :( They'd only be discounted as part of an overall retrim.

I'll edit the original post now. Sorry!

I'd be interested Si. Spoke to you about it at Coventry but would mine be classed as a complete retrim? I'd like the leather repaired & the centres alcantara.

Didn't you want all the panels done to match as well, Tom? I'm sure they were discussed as well as the seats, mate. :thumbup1:

Yeh front & rear door cards, maybe steering wheel & gear knob aswel.

That'd meet the requirements then :thumbup1:

I'd be interested in all the interior panels and maybe my Konig front seats, we've everything else covered already, I think:thumbup:

Would be interested in the front 2 seats, may the rears as well depending on costs

If my recaros count as part of the group deal I'd be almost definitely in, depending on numbers/discount may have the other one done too.

They're a pair of seats so yep, they'd qualify :thumbup1:

Bits me ssing

Sounds interesting Si, so if it went through, how would you establish who is first? and with that in mind if you where say 6th in line, where would that be in terms of finish date of your own?

A good question, Keith :) Here's how it would work:

If it was to go ahead, I'd start a thread detailing everything including the start date for the first retrim and the closing date for the GB.

Interested parties then add themselves to the list and the order they posted would be the order in which the work would be done. Interested parties would then need to discuss exactly what they wanted with me so I could give an accurate quote and expected duration of the work involved, as well as an estimated start date (based primarily on the people who were before them in the queue).

Once the GB had ended and, of course, as long as the minimum number of participants had been reached, I'd start taking deposits which would then confirm each person as being booked in for the work.

Obviously, because of the nature of what I do, there'd very likely be quite a lengthy timescale involved for the whole GB. For example, if we had 8 people who all wanted seats and panels trimming, they'd all get the 25% discount but, conversely, the eighth person could be waiting around 7 months from the start date for their own work to commence.

So this can't be the same as, say, Richie's recent GB for the throttle covers, where everyone gets the end result at the same time. It'd be nice if it could work that way, but there's only one of me and I do need to sleep occasionally!

More neck than a herd of giraffe sometimes... ;)

According to the poll so far, there'd be enough definitely interested parties to achieve the full 25% discount! :thumbup1:

In all fairness, that's a lot of money off...!

Would be interested, have you any idea on your proposed start date, would want a complete re trim, now some one needs to offer the same deal on viynal wraps or respiratory an it will be all good.

If it goes ahead, the start date would probably be late next year as a lot of people hibernate their Zeds over the winter months.

Also, next year is already filling up fast for me so, by the time I organised a GB on here and got all the deposits in etc, I'd expect the diary to be full for at least the first half of the year anyway.

According to the poll, there's at least enough "definite" interest to achieve a 15% discount, so I'll be giving this some serious consideration soon as well as double-checking things with the Commitee :thumbup1:

How much is it normally for a full leather trim, as mine is tweed and just want black leather maybe with the Z embroidered in front seats

Assuming that you have the 2+2 and you'd want the seats and all the interior panelling trimmed as well, that's usually around £1,400. So if there's a 15% discount attached, that figures drops to around £1,190.

If the discount were to make it to the full 25%, that then reduces further to £1,050!

No wonder I'm not even close to being a millionaire...!!

Hi I will be looking to do my interior as well, like the colour combo you have on yours actually mine are the standard seats not recaro. so count me in as a strong possible. rough cost? 1400 minus discount ?
