I've put my interior back together and in the best traditions i now have a piece left over any idea's what it is

    Looks like the clip from the top of the door card where the pillar cover pushes into

    As above, it's secured to a bonded bracket on the door card by way of small screws. You'll need to refit it if you want your door card to be secure.
