Hello all,

so for the past year or so I have had annoying noises when turning or going over speed bumps (very slowly of course). It is an annoying creaking noise which seems to come from either the front left or right, or both. When turning the wheel at slow speeds and manouvering it sounds like a clicking, and then when going over bumps and cambers it can be more of a creaking. It isn't affected by speed or wheel rotation so I dont think it is the cv joints as I know the kind of sound they make.

I have adjustable camber arms and tension rods which are poly bushed. I also have different suspension on the car but the noises were happening before I got that fitted to I am tempted to rule out the shocks.

So far I have lubed up the bushes I could see such as tension rods but the noise is still there. I have also checked that the shocks are tight on the mounts which they are.

Anyone have some thoughts for next steps? It is starting to drive me a bit mad and is rather embarrassing as it can sound like an old ship sometimes! I read that the front anti roll bar having dry joints night be the cause, but I dont know how to find where that is??

Thanks, William.

It's the adjustable arms I have same problem turn radio up need to get better ones they work loose

have you checked the (swaybar) endlinks ? if not tightened all the way they can cause clicks/creaks ..especially audible at slow speeds

Thanks guys. The adjustable parts all seem pretty tight which is odd, but it might be the camber arms?..

Thansk lymon, how do I find them?? no idea what they look like

Check for wear in the lower arms where the tension rod bolts. I had some scary corrosion on a previous Z and others have been affected too.

you need to grease poly bushes if you fit them dry they can creaking and make other odd noises. i had a z3 once i poly bushed the whole car the first half with grease then the last few bits with no grease the sounds it made with no grease were creaking and other odd sounds, when i slacked the parts off and gave a good spray with white grease i just used that as i had some at the time , if your ploy bushes are really dry this could very well be the issue, slacken the bolts of and give a good spray with grease or even wd40 it would be best to remove the whole bush and grease and refit. just to comferm this issues i have just fitted some poly bushes on my x5 on the front 2 days ago and i didnt grease it and its creaking now will be getting greased soon.

for sure worth a look if you have poly bushes on the arms you really need to grease the whole thing you could well spray it and it still do cus you have have not got the grease in deep thats why i said wd40 but if its was off white grease or the like were the poly bust meets the metal of the arm is were the noise comes from not just on the z but any car
