Hi guys, I am considering sir charles na at the moment to swap in my tt engine as the original plan was to respray mine and fit a 99spec kit.

Who might be able to take on that job, and at what price as I might have to go for it if the price is right! I would then need to swap the na into my tt though so i can sell it.

Might be a bit too much of a hassle, but interested to hear opinions!

Closest guy to you is probably Jimmer, Will... I can't imagine it being a cheap thing to swap two engines and all the associated gubbins that goes along with them....

Does jimmer work out of bristol? No I agree, but the respray costs and additional kit I am looking at the moment is around 3k, so it might be the lesser of 2 evils.

That's where he's based, yeah.

Lee Dent was just finishing up an na to TT swap when I was there last week, maybe message him for a price.

Marginal lesser if at all. I'm guessing you'd be using yours as the donor? To get that TT lump in there is going to cost a fair chunk in labour, quite labour intensive. Then you've got the cost of the block or depreciation of the car your using as the donor. This is one of those, if you have pay your going to spend a lot.

How much are 99 spec TTs going for these days then

Imported from Japan with a test and everything? i would say probably closer to £15k all in...

Can't say I have ever seen a midnight purple 99spec TT manual for sale in the UK.

o i see is this so you have a 99 car?

Yeah that would be it matey. My 94 spec is fine, but needs a respray to be nice, and I have some 99spec gear waiting to go on it, but all that costs money.

I reckon you're staring at a sizeable bill seeing as it's effectively two engine swaps, plus all the necessary ancilliaries!

the 99 bumper and wing am doing on my car to . but to be fair does it matter if its a 99 spec car or a 90s car with the 99 parts parts on ? once my is done it will be a better spec car than a 99 car. would i swop it when its done for a 99 car no way. to me its does not matter. just what i feel any how its all about over all condition

yeah 2 engine swaps haha! Not a walk in the park. Yeah I guess it is down to the overall condition Dan which would be the real deal breaker.

I'm not sure you can look at it like that. You would of corse have a TT 99 spec but you wouldn't have a 99 spec TT as such. Obviously it would be worth good money but not FULL money. I'm not saying don't do it but the what it would be worth after that is pretty irrelevant.

If I was going that way I'd tell the TT buy the 99 na and then convert from a fresh maybe with a grotty UK donor. Full rebuild. But that's me.

once i finish my car it may be up for sale once its done. but will see soon

I think after a conversion the car would be worth more than double what I am asking.

That's an unknown sadly. Has anyone ever sold a 99 spec NA auto that's been converted to an TT manual? I don't think they have. The thing is with 99s is there originality, otherwise it's a z32 with 99 bits on it if you see what I mean. You may and suggest your right make it more desirable however you might have the opposite effect and devalue it, it's really subjective and as the old saying goes, "it's worth, what someone will pay" no more, no less. As I've said to you before I seriously considered buying it when Baz did, I think it's a great car.

Actually its the other way round....

It would be a year 99 car with lots of earlier non 99 year used parts on it.

Its a lovely car as it sits today and someone should just buy it and use it as it is.

Yeah, you see what I mean. It's rarity is diluted. I agree it shouldn't be buggered about with really.

Aren't there a LOT of changes between the two, far more than just the engines? Steering rack for a start, gonna change that? I can't see it being worth it financially, and I don't think you could compare an NA conversion to a genuine 99 TT money wise. I think many would see it as spoilt and unoriginal, which as someone else said is sort of the point of the 99's isn't it?

It was the first NA I had ever driven having owned TTs before. It may not be as quick but it drives nicer and sounds far better than a TT that is for sure. Mainly the reasons why I delayed carrying out the conversion because the money is and was always there to do it.
