If you just sold a cosworth (escort??) you'll think you're in heaven when you drive a Zed, it's a proper car!!:D :D

Should be pretty impressed.

If it was the 2.7 or 2.9 4x4 that u had, well my rover 620ti whiped the floor of a mates brothers 4x4.

The Z would whoop my rover, and i mean whoop.

The 4x4 handles great tho and i personally love the idea of having virtually no wheelspin. If slight wet the rover is very poor at getting any power down being fwd. The Z's better but im normally shit scared to floor it when wet. I'd advise you to be too, atleast until you're used to it.

Fuel econony is generally poor~v.poor but rumour has it those 4x4's are pretty thirsty so shouldnt be much worse.

HTH

Shit was it an escort cosworth? I was on about the sierra 4x4!

Might wanna ignore everything i just said LoL!!

I reckon you'll be impressed Joe..

You don't say what spec your Cossie was, if it was mildly tuned then you might not be blown away by the speed, but then again the size and smoothness of the ride does take away a little from the sensation of speed..

Reliability wise - well it's just like the Cossie really. Buy one that's been hammered & raced and no, it'll break down constantly.. Buy one that's been looked after and pampered, and it ought to be pretty reliable..

Fuel wise.. Well don't expect great things - I get about 15mpg around town (and I don't drive it that hard..) and on the motorway about 25mpg.

Don't forget you've got an extra litre of displacement and another turbo compared to the Cossie though.

I've cruised along with a stage 3 sierra cosworth, and there wasn't a world of difference in performance at motorway speeds, though I suspect he would have mullered me if we'd had a traffic light grand prix.

(Can anyone tell I have a slight soft spot for Cosworths? Only the RWD sierras though..)

One last thing - a Cosworth, by virtue of being a ford, will be a LOT cheaper to tune and modify. But then you've just sold yours so.. :)

Hi Joe,

Is the car you're going to look at in UK Importers Club in Liverpool by any chance?

If so... gimme a shout if you decide to buy cuz i was gonna pop over and have a look at it myself. I don't wanna end up wasting a trip :p

marty, personally i would not go to the importers club. seen too many imported wrecks being tarted up to go on sale. saw one sunny gti-r that had just come off the boat, it was like something off scrapheap challenge, sideskirts hanging off, dints all over the place, and the paintwork had big flakes of paint that looked like they just fell off. on sale a week later for £5995. plenty of choice on mx-5 and previas, shogun etc, not many twin turbos mainly odd auto non turbo.

Joe.

You asked if they are reasonable on fuel.

No they are not. LOL but who cares. :D

I disagree with all of you on the fuel thing. My Zed does around 20mpg round town and knocking on 30 (taking it steady) on the M-way. I do not see what`s wrong with this guys....my parents XJ6 averages 19 and the engine is only 600cc larger with no turbos....

Besides, who in their right mind is going to ask about fuel economy when buying a 3 litre twin turbo car anyways......? Just enjoy it.

The guys are right though about not noticing the sheer acceleration. Have had my speedo checked before now because I didn`t believe the car was accelerating that fast.....just soooo smooth! :)

Joe,

cheers for the advice. I'll make a point of going over the car with a fine tooth comb. Just hoping they don't do the same with the scoob i'm trading in ;)
