Very sorry to hear the news. Don't mean to patronise or anything but can I suggest that you just give it a few days before making any big decisions like this. A few days won't make a huge difference and it'll give you time to reflect. I'd hate to see someone buy the car quickly and then you find you have a bit of luck with job or home and then regret losing the car. Judging by the pics, that's Glen's old car and, if so, you've got a good one - good one's are rare and you don't want to let it go unless you have to.

BUT, if you'd consider taking an MX5 in part-ex then mail me and I'll have words with the misses ! I'd love to have that motor ...

Hope things work out for you.

Dave

Rough.....its bad to happen at anytime but at this time of year! Employers can be such bas*ards at times.

I really feel for you man and sincerely hope that `03 brings you a new job, better luck and a new Zed.

best wishes

Feel for you mark, going through shit process of selling too,and JN allso, what is it with the last month or so,a real shit time latley, all the best to you, hope you not out of work for long,Tony

Bloody hell Mark:( Hope things pick up for you in the new year.

Sorry to heart that Mark. I got a feeling I will be joining you soon though. I work for Abbey National Treasury and we are getting rid of loads of people soon.

But if it happens I'll NOT be getting Rid of my Zed though. If I can't afford to run it, then it stay's on the drive without tax, MOT, insurance etc.

I doubt you'll have a problem selling the car give John-boy a shout I know he'd cream himself if he knew it was up for sale again.

Sh1t Mark,

That's rough timing to be sure - what feckers - hope it gets better in 2003.

We're currently running down the site that I work at, and despite the fact that we're going to get redundancy in June/July the first lot of people who's jobs have gone have just been told to take alternative (crap) work here, or forgo the redundancy.

It's happening all over, I'm afraid - bloody businesses run by accountants:mad: Always the bottom line. Makes me sick.

As far as selling the Zed goes ... adopting vulture mode.... I would definitely be interested, as it sounds like a real good one. Almost as excited as Stuart says, although I have managed to retain self-control so far ... it's touch and go though, as I am passionate about getting another zed, if you know what I mean:D

I'll try and give you a bell later.

RegardZ,

John.

thanks for your concerns, im sure things will pick up soon.

Mark,

Sorry to hear your bad news. hopefully in early New Year you'll find something. Keep your spirits up and don't rush into selling your zed - that will really make you feel like sh*t!

Yours,

Tanzx.

Hey, isn't that Andy D's car?

Mark, mate, if it is, hold on to it untill the new year mate. It's a great car.

Things can change very quickly... What seems like a kick in the nuts one minute can sometimes mean some bird coming along and asking you if she can rub them better for you (where the f**k did i get that from!!!)

Anyway, swiftly moving onwards... f things aint changed in the new year then do what you have to... I mean, there are lots more things in life more important than a set of wheels and hot bodykit...

Hope things do sort themselves out mate. If not, then you get to work sorting them out yourself.

Keep us all informed.

Arrrgh that is such a shame :(:(

I really miss this car, I hope it all works out mate.

I know how I felt when I had to sell her, I know it sounds cheesy but try and keep the Zed - you'll miss her badly :(

I do.

Peace and have a good Christmas.

Glen

Mark, Hope everything works out for you in 2003 !!!

I love your Z and don't think it will be long before you sell it...Good Luck :)

"AMMAR"

Sorry to hear this man.

I have been out of work since 18th October and am struggling...woke up today and said "Car is going!" but I only have to see it on the drive and I can't do it, sell it!!!

Trust me mate, I know exactly what you are going through and I hope that things pick up for you.

Anyone wanna buy me wheels and engine just so I can hang to her for a bit longer? LOL :D

So we're not in a recession yet then?

Labour make me laugh! Then CRY!

Just out of interest, what industry do you work in? I'm in IT and I know a shit load of other people in the same situation.

timmy, I hear contractual work is going to pick up next year.

Its a sh1t fickle business though, I know people who have been effected by the limited ammounts of contracts out there

good luck guys

Yeah were all going to be building missile control systems for Bush Baby!

I guess I'm the only one that wants to get made redundant.

I've been with my company for 10 years so I should get 5 months paid leave for notice period, then about a years wages. So I know I'll be going contracting for sure.

Problem with IT these days is if you are late 20's early 30's like me, you didn't get much exposure to computers while at school, and outside school the closest we came was a commodore 64 or spectrum 48k. Nowadays the school leavers have been playing around on their PC's for a few years inside and outside of school before getting a job. Writing their own web pages, learning to hack, setting up ftp servers to share files with their friends. When it comes to the job market, they don't ask for as much money as we do, therefore they get the jobs and in order for us to get the jobs we have to ask for less. That's why IMHO the IT market is not as good as it used to be. No longer can we ask for £100 an hour as a sybase DBA for a 3 month contract or £80 an hour for a VB / Oracle developer on 6 month contract. I'm tempted to get out of IT and get a trade under my belt.

I used to recruit SAP guys, back then they would want picking up by helicopter, accom. in a 5 Star Hotel and a helicopter back!!!

The good old days!

Better off being a plumber these days.

Guess what, I'm an IT man too, and waiting for redundancy round the middle of next year .... Not looking forward to joining the job market, since it's so damn poor at the mo, but like Stuart, I am looking forward to picking up the cheque - may be able to pay off a few debts, if nothing else, maybe even a 350;) Who knows.

Personally, I think the problems are more to do with global conditions and the appalling state of the FTSE ... I mean, who wants to take entrepreneurial risks in the current climate, or even invest in major projects, where there's no guaranteed return.:(

Unfortunately, at the moment, we're all driven by the bottom line, and in most cases, that just means "cost cutting" - which is no good for anyone, except accountants!

Hopefully, it'll pick up next year, in fact we had lunch with a pair of lovely recruitment consultants yesterday, who assured us that it was going to pick-up towards the end of next year:D Yeah right, just what I heard last Christmas!

Let's hope they're right - but for now, let's try and forget the gloomy outlook and get pissed for Chrimbo;)

In fact I'm just about to take my lot for their Chrimbo dinner, so any postings this afternoon could be more non-sensical than usual!

CheerZ everyone,

John.

Timmy etc, my advice is to get another job now to tide you over, dont wait for another job to come along, just find anything out there so you can keep the money coming in.

I was out of work for 7 months from October 2001 to May 2002. I had to take a £10k drop in pay just to get back in to a Support Manager role. Added to the fact that my wife gave birth in Nov 2001 its safe to say I was knackered for cash. I kept thinking I could find the right job so didnt take whatever came up, which on reflection I should have done.

The IT market has fallen apart, and its just going to get worse. I just had to drop one of my contract support guys and I dont think he's going to find a job in the next 3 months or so.

There is a recession going on, and once the housing market bubble bursts everything else will fall apart around it.

JB

my heart out to you pal. i remember when
