It's that time of year again where the Zed's insurance is up for renewal. I'm currently with ClassicLine and they'd like £322.58 to insure her for the coming year.

I keep seeing people boasting about how they can insure their Zeds for £150 a year so I thought I'd give Footman James a try...

For a start, they don't recognise this club as being a valid one! I'm assuming that I'd need to be a paid-up member of Z Club or something?

And I couldn't get a quote from them anyway as apparently the Z32 is no longer recognised by them as being a classic and, even if it was, the modifications would stop them quoting anyway!!

So who do people use? How much do you pay? And why the bloody hell is it so difficult for me to get insured on this car?!

Grrrrr!!

That's gotta be a record! I never paid more than £2.5k a year for insurance.

I pay £230 a year with Lancaster with a value of £3k on the Zed, with alloys, side skirts and exhaust declared. Mind you I did have a real go at them at renewal time as I proved through the MOT certificates I had only covered 800 miles in a whole year and there was no way I was going to pay more for a similar mileage! Living in the sticks helps also!

LOL....... Credit card number 4129.......

You actually made me check my card then haha. I didn't put my card on it anyway as there is not way I'm paying that :)

See the only thing I have you don't is a brake upgrade, chipped ecu and suspension mods. Insurance quote from them was over double. Weird.

I've changed this year to (KGM) via Graham Sykes (my broker)because my last broker put the premium up by nearly £100:(,now paying £198.23,with all mods and BHP figures provided.

my current policy has me paying £1800 only going down to £1600 next year... but first car and all i cant really expect less lol

I just renewed with classic line 302 this year,9k agreed value.

Great team of people, always happy to help and easy to deal with.

I was all set to renew with Classic Line this morning for £322, until they told me that they'd changed their criteria and any policies under £350 now have to be paid in full, rather than monthly!

That's me scrabbling around down the back of the couch this afternoon..... :pinch:

Put it on an interest free credit card, be cheaper that way too.

I wish I had an interest-free credit card... or even a card with enough available credit...! :pinch:

Hi, have you tried us for insurance yet? If not, please feel free to drop me a line and I'd be happy to arrange a quotation for you.

Regards

Dan

Do you believe you can provide a quote of circa £200-300 for an annual premium? Last time I checked you were not very competitive at all.

Lancaster Insurance have weighed in with £363.86. Although it's more expensive than Classic Line, I have the option to pay it monthly - us self-employed trimmers don't earn megabucks, you see.....

Waiting on a callback from Graham Sykes (as per Gray's post earlier) to see what they can offer as they had to run the mod list via their panel.

I know that's not great but how did you get nearly half what they quoted me! Just 24 hours previously. Bear in mind, I have no point etc completely squeaky clean history for insurances sake.

3 points here, no claims and all mods declared. No idea how they arrived at that price though.....

I haven't been loyal to any insurance company for year now it's not worth it where you got lower premium for being loyal you don't get it any more easy just to look around iv been quoted 350.81 full com all mods declared full no claims

Today finds me an unhappy Mondo. I ended up renewing my cover with Classic Line last night for £322 as no other quote I'd had came overly close to that and I hadn't had a callback from Graham Sykes (as per Gray's post) with a quote.

Imagine my dischuffedness (yes, it's now a word!) to find that I had a voicemail from Graham Sykes which confirmed a premium of £223.04 for the year!! That's every last mod declared and includes legal cover and breakdown too!

Bugger! :( Well, I guess you can all imagine where I'll be ringing straight away next year. Bloody phone... thanks for letting me know I had a voicemail.... :pinch:

Just cancel it - legally, they can only charge you for days on cover plus an admin fee (which will be a lot less than £100) - there's a chance they'll review their quote to try and keep the custom, but if not you've got nothing to lose!

This, last time I cancelled it only cost like £15. There may be a weeks grace period anyway?

Ring classicline and tell them you would like to cancel as someone has a better offer, tell them what it is and see if they can match it?????

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!
