Is cruise control standard?

Hi All

 

Going to look at what appears to be a nice Jap import very soon, but it doesn't have cruise control fitted. It's a '91 manual TT. Was this standard on these cars? If not, is it a major job to retro-fit it? Probably won't bother anyway, but I was more interested in whether it should be there and isn't for some reason... Thanks

    All UK cars have it as standard,some of the imports don't:(
