Hi really need some help on this, driving the car this morning when all of a sudden smelled something kind of burning, then car just lost all electrics dash etc and stopped, the burning smell went, i pulled the bonnet pulled battery lead off fearing a car fire, but now when i put the battery lead back on i get all electrics working that dont require ignition on, the lights, wipers, radio heater blower hazzards, the boost controllor powers up, as does the turbo timer, the alarm arms and disables the doors, but when i turn on ignition nothing, when i try to start the car the only thing that moves is the stock turbo boost gauge needle moves up to 3/4, ive had the ecu out and it dont smell of anything untoward, could the alarm be in imoboliser mode even though it seems to be arming on and off, thanks for any help THIS WOULD HELP its a 1993 uk tt auto

wow big problems when i hold the ignition to start the car there's smoke comming from the laserline brain box

Sounds like the immobiliser relay / contacts / pcb is fryed, not unusual as most alarms immobilsers do not have big enough current capacity within the relay contacts, cable or internal pcb`s,

Good news is you can trace the cables as they will be black and will almost certainly go to the ignition switch loom and poss the fuel relay behind the kick panel on the drivers side, and will be spliced in and re-matching the cut cables should work, also unplug the Laserline alarm.
