my car has just starting to miss when its wet, do any of you have this problem or have you had it, and have had it sorted .it seems like water is getting in to the air filter. i gave it a few strong revs and it starts to clear   please help

Featured Replies

P.S it will not rev over 2- 2.5 until it clears:confused: and stalls on idle sometimes ,but only when its messing around

Would be worth checking to see whether there's any ECU error codes

Hi, I know I'll probably sound like a dumb ass here, but how do you check the error codes on the ECU ?

You IDIOT don't you know anything?!?!?!?! FFS LOL

Can't tell you...

Could be water getting into the MAF and cooling the sense wire? More likely if you have an induction kit (and you're moving!)

Unlikely to be ignition as I'd have thought it would still rev high but miss on the affected cylinders.

Sounds like the connection to the Airflow meter. If there is a fault on the airflow meter connection the ecu goes into 'get me home' mode and uses the tps BUT only allows the engine to rev to 2500 revs. Remove the headlamp centre panel and check the connection to the MAS (airlfow meter) making sure there is no corrosion on the connections.

it has not played about to day thankfully, thanks for all your info, will let you know if problem re occurs . cheers mark.

If you have an after market induction kit and you have had the drip tray removed, moisture is more than likely what is causing your problem.

Am I right in saying that it is more like a stuttering than a missing?

I'm pretty sure that this is your problem cus I had it in the past. You just need to put a new drip tray in, just so that stops water from directly hitting the bottom of the air filter.

I had the very same problem a few weeks ago.

Tried everything, changed AFM,ECU no difference.

Took it specialist Autobox specialist, who did pin test on ecu and got odd voltages all over the place.

They chased these back to a main connector block in the foot well and it was wet, so shorting out.

The water was coming from the targa top drain which goes down the A pillar. The plastic tube is supposed to go all the way down to the outside but was short, so when it really rained hard the water dripped on to the connector.

Therfore I think you have a short in the electrics, but of course it could be anywhere, but suggest you try looking where they found it in mine first.:D
