Ok I'm after a bit of advise

I'm going to be back in the uk in around 6 weeks and I need to get my car insured.

I'm not concerned about the cost as I have a clean licence, it is kept in a good area and I'm a sensible age.

The car is quite modified and has significant value (to me at least)

So a few questions,

Which company is good for an agreed value classic policy? Less hassle the better

What needs to be done to get an agreed value in place? And how long does this take?

I also have no idea what the value of my car would be, where have people got there values from?

Anyone who knows my car have an idea what I should insure it for?

I've just sorted my insurance with Footman James... I can highly recommend them. I did it all online and sorted the agreed valuation as part of the quote. Get a quote on their website, I did it as a classic car - I found the website really easy to use and it is easy to declare all your modifications too.

There is also a thread for people to record their experiences with sorting their insurance with different companies... Have a read through: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?183212-Insurance-company-ratings-my-experience&highlight=insurance

They say they can't insure my modifications :(

I had no issues at all... Did it all online. They then gave me a ring to see I was happy with the quote and website.

Same for me, got a message to call them.

Gaz let me know if your quote is ok, see if it's worth my call

Will never understand how insurance companies work.:confused1:

Haha, me too and I'm a team manager for one of the biggest!

Classic Line, I'm 300 with all mods declared and 9k agreed valuation.

All with no hassle, I gave up with a few other companies as it was hassle from start to finish.

I'm with Classic Line as well, have been for a couple of years now. Can't fault them. :)

They have two options regarding agreed values:

1. Send them lots of photos and a detailed spec list and their in-house guy will decide a value.

2. Become a paid-up member of Z Club and get Steve Burns (I think) to do a valuation of your Zed and they'll accept that instead.

When I was discussing it with CL, the in-house guy apparently only does valuations; that's his sole job within the company.

Ok called FJ this morning and the sales lady could not understand why the online quote failed but she would do it over the phone for me. So I gave my details and wanted an agreed value of £8000 (which is double the amount I required last year). Fully comp and used to drive to and from work. Excess £100 and 7000 miles a year. The price was £352.35 and my policy starts on Saturday.

This is about what I paid last year with a valuation of £4000 (that was not an agreed valuation) so I went with Footman James. Does this price sound fair to you guys?

If you want a hassle free agreed valuation, Footman James is your best bet. They with give you an agreed valuation over the phone most of the time and they have some great policy benefits such a zero deduction salvage. You should look between 10-15k imo. Definitely worth a call.

They wouldn't even give me a quote. For either of my Zeds! :(

Sounds a bit expensive though not unreasonable to me - is it a standard or classic policy?

Not that I would personally consider it expensive...

Standard TT Auto, £117 comp from FJ. Best price by far after shopping around. Would 350Z wheels and aftermarket exhaust count as modifications requiring to be declared??

I declared bigger wheels, wheel spacers, exhaust, induction kit and even the updated rear indicators. ( these all came up in a menu on the online quote.)

How much did you value your Z for? and was it an agreed value?
