Hello all,

I have been considering buying a 300zx for some time now and I have test drove quite a few. I have only drove the non-turbo as I didn't think I could afford the turbo. To be honest I wasn't that impressed with the performance. The manual was good but the automatics I test drove weren't very impressive. This put me off getting an automatic altogether and I decided it had to be the manual. Thing is, there is a metallic blue twin turbo with full leather full sale at a garage on the Internet at the moment which looks very very nice. Problem is - it's an automatic. Now it's a good 100 mile drive for me to go and look at the car so I don't want to waste any time and petrol looking at a car thats performance isn't up to much.

Basically all I want to know is if the stats I have seen for the turbo i.e 0 -60mph 5.7 secs applies to the auto's as well. Or, like I have found, that the autos don't deliver the same kind of performance as the manuals??

So shall I bother looking at this car?? It's the right price and it looks the part but I'm just unsure about the box!!

Cheers - Conrad

Well said! Both kick other cars' asses easily. Nuff said.

Getting back to the first question, these cars are seriously fast and if your unimpressed with the performance perhaps you need too buy something else.

Perhaps Try a TT before you make your final decision.

The one thing I will say is this is an amazingly good looking car. I have had one for only three months and the amount of attention the car has had has been amazing. People always comment how they like it. You wont get this with any other car.

Look if you were seriously looking for a 300zx get a TT and wether it was an Auto or Manual who cares!

Just buy one, you won't look back!

OH FFKS , its my opinion that an AUTO is dull in comparrison to a Manual... thats "my opinion" it may differ to yours but its just an opinion, wtf is wrong with people, if you dont like it ignore, it if you find the car interesting and nice to drive, then good for you? I meant no harm by what i said, again its my opinion..... i guess no one on here is aloud to say what they think anymore, because it might not agree with someone else?

Warren - nothing wrong with your opinion. I don't fully agree but it's your opinion. Me - I prefer manuals but would concede, just, that perhaps there is just a smidgen of less-interestingness between a manual and an auto Z.

OTOH, I would consider an auto Zed a zillion times less dull than just about any other car.

Senna - shouldn't that be a "Royale with cheese"?

Darkman2 - yep, your zed is the baddest on the island - and that includes the Skyline and Honda POSs (just picking a fight with non-Zed owners...)

...after 20 plus years of changing gears, I thought it was time for a change. Maybe it's an age thing...

If you want to be taken at the lights by a Z. The same would apply on the Motorway, A road, B road, C road, D road.........Z Road.

The choice is yours.

I have raced several TT's and Scoobies for that fact. Althought it was fun, they weren't much of a challenge.

But as everyone else has said - the choice is yours. It depends what you are looking for.

Nope, defiantly not, buy my manual!!!!!!!!

like others have said it all depends on you and what you like. i went a saw a yellow zed that was absolutely mint, but it was auto and i just couldnt get aqlong with it. you know which you like and you shouldnt be put off, cos you know you will regret it.

hope this helps

steve

I have a manual and love it, but I know I would also love my car just as much if it were an auto.

It's not the transmittion it's how you drive it that gives you the pleasure.

I hope you enjoy your 300zx whether it's an auto or manual.

had a manual 300tt, then borrowed my mums metro (auto) to go to tescos, so impressed with difference, sold manual and bought an auto tt, very happy now, the metro showed me the light:D :D :D

Phew for a minute there I thought you were going to say "sold the TT and bought a metro".

Sorry lads.

Sports car = manual

Nice big luxury car = Auto
