How do i get paint off the exhaust without scratching the stainless steel ?

Is it just over spray? Use a medium grade clay bar to start. That should remove a good deal of it.

Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), also known as Methyl Acetone. This stuff is amazing!! Don't use in confined areas or you will be away with the birds. Put on a cloth and wipe away the paint.

Can vouch for this. Make sure it only touches the exhaust though because it will also remove much of the car :p

 

Also wear gloves or it will make you very aware of a number of cuts which you nevertheless you had...
