I need a steering rack in good condition. I have a 1990 NA LWB jap import (i dont know if all racks are the same, but just incase)

Mine is just starting to weep on offside (MOT advisory) and the "inner tie rod" are corroded (MOT advisory) so I would prefer to change it now and have a clean MOT sheet as it were!

Ive added a picture of the bit thats corroded just incase

Its labeled "Inner Tie Rod"

I don't know how much difference it makes but the TT rack is quicker.

Metros breakers in Colindale, NW London have an NA. If they don't ship, I can pick it up for you as it's only about ten minutes away.

Vijay

Most exposed metal will have some surface corrosion. The inner tie rods are 14mm thick. They wont corrode thru. Just rub the rust off. Treat it with some anti rust solution and paint them.

If you have a leaking rubber boot it can probably be changed without removing the rack.

Much Easer and much cheaper. IMO

Its the actual seals in the rack that the geared straight bit moves in and out of. I havent been able to find them any where, so i thought might as well just change the whole thing.

Why would a TT rack be faster?
