Right.... this may sound like a daft question but I'll go with it anyway.

My Z has a TOAD alarm system which was already fitted when I got it. The problem is, it came with no instructions on how to programme the fobs and it only came with one.

I've got a feeling that the battery might be dying in it as it sometimes takes a while to disarm it. My question is... If I take the battery out to change it (I have a new one ready) will it need reprogramming or will it still work?

Thanks

The best thing to do is to get your model no. and Google it Dave, you should be able to find an online manual which will give you all the info you need. Most alarms do have a memory function for changing batteries but I'm not telling you to do it just in case. the other alternative is to find your nearest alarm installer and ask them. personally, I'd research online using the model / serial no. and then you can organise new fobs etc:thumbup1:

Fair enough... I can't remember the model off the top of my head but I did change the fob earlier in the year. The original was really scruffy so I bought a new one from ebay and then switched the inside of my old one into it as I wasn't sure back then.

Have a look on the actual alarm unit under the bonnet, grab the model no. off it and get a user manual online, I know with the OEM alarms in the Saab, Outlander and L200, it was a quick battery change and all was ok. Should be the same for you. I think that the fob is programmed to the alarm and the battery is just a power source, ie. the fob will always put out the correct frequency for that alarm??

Hopefully, it'll be that simple then:)

Fingers crossed, my Z alarm has been dead for 6 years, so I'll be hoping for a similar outcome:scared::biggrin:

I believe if you change the batt the fob shouldn't need reprogramming but if you put the new batt in straight away it should be ok.

If your Toad alarm is an Ai106 system with a key fob like the photo, then I can supply you with the user guide and

installation instructions.

Just an update on this, it became pretty bad this week with the battery issue, was worried it wasn't going to work each time I used it.

Anyway, I bit the bullet and just swapped the battery quickly......

IT WORKED!!!! Result:)

Happy days Dave:thumbup1:, I'd still get a downloadable copy of the user manual that you can keep for reference.
