I've decided to sell my recently retrimmed steering wheel as I have a slightly different plan in mind for it's replacement. :)

This is the early, non-SRS steering wheel and I trimmed it late last year in black leather (solid finish top and bottom, perforated finish left and right) with a dark red / burgundy stitching.

I also fattened the rim slightly, so it feels a little chunkier in your hands. I've personally found this to be much more comfortable as the revamped rim has a little bit of "give" to it now, rather than being completely firm and solid.

The wheel has seen maybe 600 miles of use since it was trimmed and is in immaculate condition.

Please note: there will be no centre pad with this as I need to keep it (due it not having the cutout for the CC buttons). There may also be a slight delay in sending it out as I'll have to wait for the replacement wheel to arrive here!

Looking for £115 including delivery.

Thanks.

That matches my interior nicely but I have a momo now :(

The thread's actually three or four shades darker than yours, Lee. I used a bright red on your parts whereas I needed something darker to match my own. :)

Does the leather shade/colour match that of a stock, untrimmed centre pad?

It's a better match than the OEM leather ever was, but it's not a perfect match. But nothing would be a perfect match as you'd be trying to match leather to moulded plastic. :)

At the risk of shooting myself in the foot here, the stitching would be noticably darker than anything you have in your cabin at the moment, Joel... it's definitely more of a burgundy shade as it needed to tie in with my leatherwork on the seats....

Can you retrim a full SRS wheel in a similar way just for future reference?

Oh yes...

That is not to put down your work though, it does look very professional and i did read this:

"Thanks, guys

Steering wheels are a bit of a nightmare to do as there's a lot of different shapes and angles to work with on the spokes... and making sure the new cover's not too big or too small... then hand-stitching absolutely everything!!"

What by the beard of Zeus were you trying to achieve in MSpaint there?

The distances between the spokes and the perforated bits are not equal, the lines are to represent length

Alright grandad, hold your t*ts

OH MY GOD

It's all my fault !!

I sold him the car - it was me that let him in!!

You've been a big help here, thank you.... :ban:

:tt2:

It's no problem for me, as I luckily don't suffer from OCD and I'm more than happy with the work Si did on the steering wheel.
