I have my MOT next month and need a few things doing so it can sail through. Couple of things I would like to know:

1) I have a JDM LWB non-turbo with a HID kit I installed last year, one of my front fog light bulbs has gone. What bulbs do I need? Is there a better style of bulb (the current bulbs were a bit too orange and didnt match the HIDs)

2) To pass the MOT last year I had to change my reverse light into a fog light, I stole my wife red nail polish and painted one of the reverse bulbs which worked, but now I want something much brighter (not to mention the nail polish has faded!) What is the type of bulb I need?

I know the JDMs use a H3 or something, but in the UK its called a H3c or something. Could anyone clear this up for me as im struggling to find a clear answer

Thanks

You've got the last bit the wrong way round for the dipped.

Colouring a bulb will work but it'll soon burn off, filament bulbs get very hot very very quickly.

Why not buy a red 1156 filament bulb though ? These are still in this age quite bright, to get a led bulb of equal brightness you'll have to spend getting near to £10 per bulb.

Front fogs are not testable and even though they say 5000k which should be a match for hids, they may still be a touch on the yellow side but you need H3 and perhaps those with the blue tips, pay your money and take a chance you'll like them.

I tried 3 bulbs. Phutumsch suggested a 5630 smd bulb which was the best!

The Lucas bulb I would forget!

The 5630 bulb is 80w and is the best, the one on the bottom in the pic.

The top right is a red filament 1156, this will also be bright but not for £3.99 as per your link.

Top left.....waste of time.

Re the fog bulbs, the blue tipped will be best but not at 100w, find some at 55w.
