Ok guys, probably should of started this last year when I decided to resurrect my 1993 JDM 300zx Twin Turbo Auto. I said I call the car "Blue Thunder" (mostly just to annoy everyone:tt2:) as it will be loud and blue:thumbup:.

You'll have to bear with me as I'm going to use previous posts off this forum for most of the current bits and I'm not "computer super proficient" with adding images etc

I'll start at the very beginning if I can remember back that far:lol: (No pics in this quick update) (This is for the benefit of anyone joining after '09)

Bought the car in the summer of 2005, a low mileage (42K) 1993 300zx TT auto, within a few months the timing belt had stripped some teeth, luckily no engine damage. Replaced belts, series 2 PTU and bought my 19" TSW Catalunyas. Had to get the rear wheels custom made to 9.5" as they weren't available in this size:thumbup1:. Went on to buy a Pioneer Avic X1R single DIN touchscreen Sat-Nav stereo to liven up the sounds and my Brembo Big Brake kit.

July 2006 - Engine had a ticking noise, nothing major, diagnosed as sticky lifters, recommended solution was an oil change. Bought 2 4.5 litres of Castrol Edge 10W60, oil filter and an engine flush, brought it to a "garage" and asked them to drop the oil, using the engine flush, refill with the fresh Castrol oil heat it up, flush it out, fit the new filter and refill with the other container of Castrol Edge...Simples:innocent:

Collected the car and went home, got to the house and the engine turned into a tractor, lifted the bonnet, oil everywhere, they'd put the full 9 liters into the car and wrecked the engine.:scared::thumbdown: After a few arguments and the backing of the Motor Factors owner where the oil was bought, the "Garage" eventually admitted responsibility. They sent the car to another "Garage" who was fitting the new engine from API, more drama, Radio was stolen in their care and engine lasted a day, oil sump had been damaged and suction pipe couldn't get enough oil in, another knackered engine:scared::thumbdown:.

2007 - Sued the "Garage" and got the car back 2008.:thumbup1:

2008 - 2009 Went to a decent bloke who sorted the engine, did the manual conversion, fitted a brand new Exedy street performance clutch with an RPS Lightweight Flywheel, BuddyClub Racing Spec Coilovers, Z1 hardpipes and HKS Induction kit. November '09 Hydrolocked the engine driving into a puddle:scared::thumbdown:

2010 - After getting "Ripped off" on a Border Fuel Rail, 555 injectors and Japanese "UK" Clocks (meant to be UK but had been converted) and with a 9% pay deduction and extra Levies / charges on Civil Servants (totalling a 60% deduction of my already diminished gross pay), I called it a day on the Z:thumbdown:

Been quiet on here for a while, been busy putting together a cunning plan:innocent::whistling:

I've the ferry booked for next Saturday 7th and am "trailering" the Z over for a tidy up:thumbup: First I'm heading for Wales to drop the Z for a paint job,(at Keith's for lunchtime Sat). I'm then heading down to Bristol to pay Jimmer a visit and to drop off a few parts:thumbup:

Myself and Jo are going to make a weekend out of it, we'll do the running around on Saturday and are looking for recommendations for somewhere nice to stay and look around for the Sunday (have to be back at Holyhead for 4pm Sunday) via Bala, Gwynedd, anyone fancy a meet up?

Maybe Shrewsbury would be a nice spot??

Thats going to be a busy weekend mate so hope it all goes to plan. :clover:

Yeah, as I've said to a couple of the guys, "It works out great in my head", just have to wait and see if it works out as well in reality:scared:

Where would be a nice place to stay overnight that might have some nice "touristy" locations (castle etc), but close to (2-3hours) from Holyhead??

Thanks

Try Caenarfon Rich. Nice place close to holyhead.

Thanks Tom, basically we've got an hour and a half drive to Keith's and then a 4-5 hour drive down to Jimmer's, so the whole of Saturday is driving, I then have to head back to Keith's to pick up the trailer and then onto Holyhead. We were thinking of driving back up towards Keith's from Bristol and stopping at a Premier Inn etc roughly half way between Jimmer's and Keith's, do a bit of sight seeing (plus traditional fresh cod and chips with mushy peas:drool:),

Probably Shrewsbury then. Llangollen is nice but might be too close to Keith's for you.

Well!! I've had one hell of a rough day! Did a 25 hour work through yesterday, got home at 9.30am, dropped the boss to work, got a text to say the fast ferry's been cancelled for tomorrow morning, we've to go on the slow one instead, only thing is the slow ferry leaves at 1.40am Sunday mornings :scared:, wouldn't have had time to stop for a pee let alone food and drink:scared:, Jo's a travel agent so sorted it that we're on the 1.55am crossing tonight/tomorrow  She got them to throw in a cabin so we'll be able to get a few hours sleep. The return crossing is at 1.40am Monday to give us some breathing space, it'll get into Dublin around 5am, get back home for 7ish and then I've to head straight to work 30 miles away for 8am, Jo is in for 10 Monday. Started pulling and sorting all the bits and pieces, had to collect the trailer at 3.30pm, got back with it and the wheels were going to scrape the sides, had to phone them up, organise a larger trailer and drive back the 15 miles to switch them, pressure was then on as I had no straps, the gearbox was still at the garage, as was the car, half done due to running all over the place. Just finished packing everything up and I'm shattered  On the road for 11.30pm tonight:scared: Still we get an extra few hours to take out time.

Here she is all packed up...

What a day we had yesterday, off the ferry at 5.30am, Google maps loaded up, junction closed on the A55, so Google redirects us to travel over the mountains on narrow roads with sharp bends with a triple axle 5m trailer!!:scared: Heavy fog:scared: Went the Bets y Conaed route, 6.30am, met a patrol car with the blues on and a car wreck balanced precariously in a ditching. 7.20am, had to pull in for a nap as we'd only gotten 3.5 hours on the ferry (all I'd had since Weds night). 8.30am, woke up in daylight with a missed message from Keith, a quick 30min spin later and we were sitting down having a steaming cup of sugary tea in Keith's living room:clap:. Jo stayed inside chatting while Keith, myself and his two lads went about unloading the Z. 4 hours later and we were still chatting, laughing and devising cunning plans:biggrin:. Was too busy and excited to get any fecking photos:thumbdown:.

We said farewell to Keith and the lads at 1pm, Stopped at a Toby's in Shrewsbury for lunch and a recharge, 2.30pm headed for Bristol and Jimmer's :thumbup1:

Arrived at 6pm and spent another hour and a half unloading parts and chatting away. Between meeting these two great lads, I finally feel that after all the mishap and mayhem, there's finally a light at the end of the tunnel:thumbup:

Got back to Shrewsbury for 9.30pm, checked in got some fish and chips (from a frigging Chinese takeaway:scared:). Just up now, having brekkie and planning a day with Jo as she got to do nothing yesterday. Then it's back to Keith's for the trailer and ferry home at 2.55am:thumbup1:

I'd like to thank Keith, Emma, Stefan, Morgan and Ellie for making us feel so welcome, they extended their hospitality until nearly midnight before we hooked up the trailer and headed for Holyhead, you guys have made friends for life with myself and Jo, you're welcome in our home in Ireland anytime

The guys were good enough to give us a bit of "Off-Road / Greenlaning" on the way to the restaurant :tt2::lol:

This is what they reckon a road is!! The wing mirrors on the jeep were touching the hedges on both sidea:lol:

Cheers again guys for a lovely weekend, we honestly do hope to repay the favour later on in the year:thumbup:

Last piece of my Z puzzle:clap:

Had paid for it in March '16, left it at Nissan with my other bits, collected everything and they swore blind that they'd already given it to me.

Got them to check again and guess what?? They found it in their store. So this is being shipped off to Keith's along with my red nose badge:thumbup:

Haven't been doing much Z related the last while, bar saving up and paying for my respray , I did however get offered another SWB TT in red and said "what the hell", the guy let me pay him off in installments so it took the sting out of it:thumbup:

These Kyosho models don't come up very often (expensive when they do) so figured when they're offered to me for a reasonable amount, it would be rude not to take them:yes:

So after trying a few different ideas regarding fitting my 18" Veilsides over my HUGE Brembo 6 pot front calipers and failing miserably:thumbdown: I'm now moving to plan B:innocent:

I will be selling my front setup, newly powder coated 6 piston Brembo calipers with brand new, seals, stainless bleed valves, adapter brackets and brake pads (same as R35 GTR), You can get 18"s & 19's over them if they have a minimum internal diameter over 450mm, unfortunately for me, I want to keep my Veilsides which are 450mm but step down to 435mm.

I'll stick up a for sale thread shortly:yes:

Anyway.....

PLAN B:clap:

IMG_5076.jpg

Just got these babies delivered, back to square one... strip them down, order new stainless bleed valves, new seals, new pads, new hardware (pad springs+bolts), send them for powdercoating and then rebuild. Pretty much what I've just done on my other ones.

Where my larger set are 355mm in length, these are ONLY 325mm, thus the 30mm less should fit inside my Veilsides

Quick comparison between the two calipers sitting inside the wheel

My old setup...

New setup...

Hoping to get things moving over the next couple of months, so while the car is being painted, I can slowly rebuild these and have everything ready for when it heads down to Jimmer:punk:
