RB swap seems quite common in the US.

Yeah. Dunno why though. RBs are rare and expensive over there, the VG has more aftermarket support over there, is already in the car and mod for mod is more powerful than an RB. Fashion swap imo.

I guess they cant have the R33 and R34 so they put the RB26 in the Z to make it the next closest thing.

Could be worse, at least they haven't done an LS swap...

R35 conversation could be interesting, at least it would still be a v6

I'd pick an turbo LSx over an RB any day of the week.

This. RB's are over priced and over rated imo. But, if that's what someone wants to fit then good on them.

In all honestly I don't get why some folk are so vehemently against engine swaps.

Some people just like to be different, or prove they can do it, or just want something that the car in OEM engine form doesn't offer them. Each to their own I say.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

I'm not against engine swaps, but RB26DETT versus VG30DETT just doesn't seem worth it. You get more space to work, but that engine has its own problems too. Like oil starvation under heavy cornering, or so I've heard.

Also it's usually an RB25 rather than RB26.

I think it's the 25 that eats its oil pump. Which is about as fun to change if not more fun than the turbos in z.

So many rb or LS conversations out there, if I was going to do an engine swap it would have to be different,

Or maybe do a full gtr conversation space frame and 4wd...

A game I used to have you could fit an ls9 from the corvette and a 4wd system to a zed...

There are a few 2jz conversions, but apparently they are very tricky.
