I'm after a couple of shitty early door cards to use as a template and to take some bits and bobs from. Does anyone have any that they'd otherwise be sending to landfill?

BTW, when I say 'shitty', I mean, in a poor state - they don't need to be in good condition what so ever. As long as they've got the plastic trim on the lower section where the seatbelt bracket slides over.

I'm modifying some series 2 door cards to be series 1 compliant - so need to modify my series 2 cards a little so that I can retain the seat belts on the doors. :)

Because I am converting series 2 cards to be series 1 - in terms of seat belt fitment. I need the plastic trim from the old tweed cards along the bottom that the bracket slides over. In addition, I need to be able to use the series 1 as a template so that I can cut out that section AND the section where the main part of the seatbelt goes through to the mechanism.

Can you not just pattern from your existing doorcards then...?

I might have the plastic bits spare somewhere, both upper and lower - I'll have a look for you. If you plan on attaching the metal bracket that lives behind the lower plastic (which it screws into), I assume you'll be bonding it on rather than the original riveting, yeah?

I could do, however they're sold and may end up going before my replacement cards are here.

Can't recall the lower metal part - refresh my mind please!

Thanks - will take whatever you have! :)

PS - plan is still to retrim the seats at a later date. :)

On the reverse of the S1 doorcards, where the bottom of the seatbelt bolts into the the door itself, there is a metal bracket riveted on that the plastic shoroud on the other side screws into.

You won't be able to rivet that on to your S2 cards as you'd need to partially remove the fabric covering which I don't recommend you try! I think most people just do without the metal bracket and simply bond the plastic shroud straight onto the doorcard, but I don't for one second imagine that'd be good enough for you to do... :tt2:

i've got a pair of shitty series 1 cards from when i changed mine, some of the clip mounts on the rear are missing but pretty sure they have the plastic seat belt bits on the bottom, was just going to bin them in new year

You can strongly bond the riveted metal brackets to the doorcard fibre material by treating the area with Ronseal wood hardener

and then using epoxy adhesive. The wood hardener soaks into the fibre rather like fiberglass resin and mat and dries to provide

a stable surface for the epoxy to bond to.
