In the new year my next job is to get my AJ4 series six spoiler resprayed and refitted. Its lacquer has long since been defeated by the Japanese sun, and the left mounting is probably the source of a very slight boot leak.

Few questions on the spoiler:

  • Bolts needed?
  • Is there anything else holding it on, such as glue or clips?
  • Anything else worth mentioning?

Only bolts in the support. You also have the genuine article which means the supports can be separated from the main spoiler body as it comes in 3 sections. To remove the spoiler from the body, you have 2 bolts either side that are accessible through the boot trim. Once the spoiler has been removed, you'll have further bolts securing the main legs to the table (yes - easiest way to describe it all)!. Take those off, there's also a small seal around each leg at the top. Get the spoiler painted as its 3 separates rather than try to get the bodyshop to paint it all as one.

Thanks, very helpful. Any idea on the bolt sizes or part number?

No idea - you'll be able to reuse them though I'd imagine.

Probably. Just wondering in case they're part of the leak issue.
