Have any of you guys owned a TT then moved on to an NA? If so how do you find the difference in performance, drive etc.

I'm still looking to get back into a Zed and might be going down the auto NA route. Although as some of you may know, my ultimate preference is a SWB TT. Should I do it? Reality is that I won't be in a position to afford my preffered Zed.

All thoughts and opinions welcome.

Daffy.

Depends what you're comparing it to Dan...

It is slow next to (say) a McLaren; but is still faster than most "ordinary" cars - so to simply say "it is a slow car" will have pretty much everyone disagreeing with you mate!!

Anyway, back to Dave's post.... Gio went from a TT manual to a NA auto. His latest one is a very fine late-spec car indeed  It's good to see you're coming back to Zed ownership Dave....

I have to ADMIT here that having had a few super bukes and lotus else I feel most car I have been feel slow. the boxster I had even felt slow with mods to get 300bhp out of it, I guess most people have not really been in of owned really fast cars so think the stock z is fast. with my uparted turbos now on the car and other mods it should be 400 to 450bhp once the car is on the road I wil review it with that power and see how feel I hope it has a bit more poke now. but stand by the the stock z being slow my x5 can keep up with it for a good while before the z pulls away

But dont forget the cost of the 300zx, comparing it to an x5 and porsche both 5-10 years old but the x5 costing £10,000 more than a 300zx, and he is not looking for a car that is going to be really fast.

I'm sure the power will be ok for me, it'll probably only get used on a nice Sunday anyhow.

In my mind if you are not really bothered by scarificing less power when getting an na, then there isnt really a difference between it and the TT :)

I've had 2x lwb auto TT's, and 2x swb manual NA's, and now a lwb auto NA - the manual NA is definitely my favourite so far. I've only got an auto this time because everything else about the car was so right, and I certainly don't mind an auto, but it may get converted one day.

I found the TT to be a lot of hassle - warming up/cooling down etc. - whereas I can just jump in the NA and go. Sure, it's a bit slower but it's still a Z, and that's what give you the feels when you're driving it. Don't get me wrong, my dream car is a manual TT slicktop, but that won't be happening anytime soon LOL :)

Another sweeping assumption mate... Some of us have owned and/or driven some pretty fast machinery......!!

But like you say, perhaps most cars you have been in feel slow - so it certainly comes down to what you are comparing it with! A stock ZX is certainly not "slow" in comparison to most "normal" cars - although I will concede that a few of today's big engine turbo diesels (EG BMW 335d, 535d; Merc C/E/CLS 350 cdi) could certainly give one a run for its money, once on the move. But they are not "slow" cars either.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
