redwine300 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Well today, out of the blue, I was offered a drive in a Porsche Boxter S. 2013 :w00t: Journey time around 30 miles, most of it motorway without cameras! 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds. :censored: Top end of 174 with 2 stages of sports mode etc' etc' Auto, manual and paddle shift. A stunning car. :cool2: What did I do? I declined! I don't know what came over me, what an opportunity. Mind you, having said that, the offer was left open should I decide to change my mind. RichardS Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 You did what....? Boxster S is a fine car indeed. There are some on here who might disagree - claiming they are "slow" but that's nonsense; the Boxster S and Cayman S are just about the best £50k sports cars you can buy at the moment. Fact! I'd have either like a shot - but the Cayman is not a convertible and the Boxster cannot accommodate a couple of suitcases for a week's holiday (Julia cannot travel light). Hey ho..... Quote I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
Dazsw Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I got a shot in a brand spanking M6 around a month ago, quick car though feels very heavy on the road, head up display was weird as well but I'm sure you would get used to it, tyre noise was horrendous though, tyres are louder than the engine lol. Baz Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Snap the offer up dave, be a good experience for you! I miss working in car garages and driving a big variation of nice new cars! Quote
Eggs Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Yep, you're mad! A friend of mine has a 981, it's a hell of a car I've taken it out a load of times and love it! She had the old Boxster before and it's absolute shite compared to the new one. Actually, it's just absolute shite. Quote
redwine300 Posted November 21, 2015 Author Posted November 21, 2015 Not sure what you are saying, but the car I was a passenger in was awesome. Blisteringly quick. Quote
Stephen Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 He's saying the new ones are great the older one not so much. If he's talking about the original boxster I can believe it,my zed on stock boost was faster... Now go drive that boxster looney. Quote

Guest dan300zx Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 (edited) having had one a 3,2s i can review it. the car is well made handles very well brakes are great there brembos on the s i had, its also has a open diff and this really lets the car down but the car it very under powerded its 266bhp in its just to slow, this is were i started modding mine, i had a ipd throttle body converer a bigger throttle body of a 996, after market system with sports cats uprated panel filter and a under drive pulley and remap we got it to 300bhp it was much better but still was no way near were i wanted, so to sum it up it handles well looks great sounds good brakes good. lacks power and need a lsd diff, would i have a other no i wouldnt. the day i went to get this car i was on the way to but a z3m and at the last min i changed my mind and went for the boxster, big mistake here is the car i had. after i sold this i just was looking on ebay for a cheap car to mess about with and this i were i ended up but the z to just play with for a few weeks and now its ended up costing more than the boxster  Edited November 23, 2015 by dan300zx Quote

A mate of mine bought a brand new Cayman S when they were first launched (in essence, the hard top version of the Boxster). I had a drive in that and it was pretty nice. It was the handling and feel that I was impressed with more than anything else. Even compared to the 911 Turbos I've driven, I thought it was a very capable car. Quote
