I've been lusting after a classic car for some time now. A couple of cars were on my short list - the first being a Datsun 240z/260z/280z or some sort of american muscle car. Well after a 4 month wait my new car is nearly here - it's sat in a warehouse in Felixstowe and will be with me Tuesday hopefully! It's a 1976 Pontiac Firebird, 5.7 V8 and been modified for street/strip as shown in the pics. Got plenty of plans for it including a completely different front end which I've already got. Can't wait to get it here and get started on it. Don't worry the twin turbo Z isn't going anywhere

I was considering muscle when looking to buy a car, but they are either rusted to s*** or just too pricey.

I hope you'll be putting a Smokey & The Bandit front on it, Baz!

Always wanted one of these but, like my Zeds, it'd have to be the T-top version. Looking forward to seeing some pics once she's in your possession! :thumbup1:

I've always loved American musle cars! To say I'm jealous would be an understatement.

I would really love a decked out Lincoln continental or a charger

Awesome. Of that body that's my least favourite front end (sorry) but I am very, very jealous. I know you've been waiting for months so I'm pleased it's finally arrived.

Love the old American V8 Muscle cars! Looking forward to the future pics:thumbup1:

Best of luck with your new project buddy:thumbup1:. Would love any V8 but this country is pants when it comes to taxing them:thumbdown:

Awesome. DO NOT !!! REPEAT..... DO NOT ....Change the front end. In the short term it will please you, but, it will come back to haunt you.

As you know, been a Yankee owner since I was 21, (32 years ago) and, well, just trust me !!

Thanks for the comments guys... Al - it was always my intention to swap the front and I'm building the car for me to keep potentially forever so I want to make it how I want it :) interested to know what you mean about it coming back to haunt me..?!

Steve - its my least favourite too but the whole car will transform over the winter and come the next show season it'll look a completely different car.

And what's really exciting.... Next year it qualifies for free road tax :tt2:

Its your car, so, do as you want, not how others perceive it.

Yank owners are a wee tadge more anal than Zed owners. Yes, it is possible !!

They will nod in agreement at engine and trans mods, pass the time of day at your wheel choice ?? But pass a 76 as a 77 or 78 ?? Burn the witch, burn the witch !!

Only winding ye up ?? Good luck !! Keep the pics coming !!

Haha yeah I have noticed that... But you're going the wrong way in your front end guesstimations! I've got a '73 front to go on :D

... And I don't actually mind the grille on the 74-76 models. But the bumper is ghastly!

Haha. You missed the rear lights and bumper too! I've already looked into getting a small rear screen in and changing the rear panel, so it's a possibility for the future.

Yessss, that's a pretty front end. That's formula though if I'm not mistaken with the big hood vents.

Yep it's a Formula. I'm gonna reserve judgement on my cowl good until I've got the car and fitted the new front. Sure someone out there would straight swap me a formula hood if I wanted (already considered this)

Glad it's finally in the country Baz. Keep the updates coming mate, looks amazing!

Hey Baz! Should I start paying instalments off that car now so I can have it when you've worked your magic!:whistling:

Haha good luck with that! The amount of effort that's gone into getting it here this is going nowhere! And I can't wait to transform it!
