I don't suppose after all this time anyone has a 31036-43p01 transmission ECU floating about for sale??????

I now have drive after fitting new cooler and remote filter kit......... but stuck in first gear....... going to try ECU and see if it changes anything.......

It lets me change from 1 to 2, but in drive won't shift...... going to recheck fluid again at weekend.... but wanted to try an ECU in case....

Sure asked this before but have you checked the reverse lights are working? 1 and 2 can be mechanically selected with the shifter when the auto fuse has blown but not in drive, worth a 2 minute look if you have not already as the reverse lights share the same fuse with the auto box and it is easier than checking the fuse.

Ok well was worth a go, the auto box ecu failure rate is well next to zero unfortunately so still worth a go as a little cost option, but then hope I am proved wrong but doubt it will change anything, what you could do with is a ConZult connected, back wheels raised a few inches off the floor and then go through the drive watching what the auto ecu is seeing and responding to, often you will see the info as its been told, live data, speed, temp, tps setting etc. and will send signals to the box solenoids accordingly which you will see on the ConZult, if it sending the change gear command and nothing happens its kind of proving its the box...sorry.

I have the new clutch pack rebuild kit with steels, full gasket kit with o'rings and seals...... so going to have a go at rebuilding the original box taking my time....... I just wanted to check everything to get the one in there checked in case it is something both causing both boxes to have the same fault..... thought i would try and rule out external factors...... so going to test continuity on entire wiring harness and connectors to make sure. I read that the connectors behind drivers side headlight could cause issues if they get corroded as they connect ECU to sensors in the transmission?

Connection of course can break down and cause problems, however that should throw an auto box fault which would mean when you start the car the power light flashes repeatedly for several seconds to alert you to a logged fault.

Annoyingly the major cables going into the gearbox have no termination point where you could disconnect them close to the gearbox as they go straight in so continuity testing is difficult as the cables are connected to solenoids and relays etc so back feeds and false circuits can play havoc with any test results.

The connectors behind the headlight do not get wet and not seen them as a problem myself, however there are cables from the tps that can get wet and cause problems with not changing gear, I did a few techs on this caused by passenger front targa drain issue, the tps value gets stuck at a high reading that cannot be altered and the gearbox is designed to use this as a parameter when to change, have you done the tps checks? sorry if I am asking stuff you have already done and posted.

No, your advice is much appreciated Jeff..... as always...

I replaced the TPS last year as it was faulty and I set it up with my meter following the guide, but I will double check it is within tolerance and working correctly at the weekend. I am open to checking everything now as at the end of the day I need to check everything is working correctly throughout the Z. I am going to gradually remove, clean up / replace anything rusty or worn, rewire, check connectors and replace broken or corroded ones, etc....... on a bit of a mission now......

Loads to do and not in a rush, just need it to be done right and last another 23 years.....

Ive PM'd you also Russ, but im sorry to say that mine isnt in the car anymore, i must have taken it out when i did the conversion years ago and either gave it away or chucked it.

Apologies

The boxes i believe are the same apart from UK box not having the power switch, so worth a try i guess

I'm sure I'll almost certainly have one mate, I'll grab it when I get to my unit in the next day or so and send it to you, if it fixes it you can pay for it then, or send it back if it doesn't?
