Rear shocks are better new, i replaced mine a few years back a couple of times with used warn out shocks and they kept leaking and failing, i bought new was about £50 each, then ended up changing to miester r coilovers,

but the ride and handling was so much better with new not tied shocks, my car was dangerous with a rear shock gone it did not bounce if there was a bump or camber it would jump across the road make the back feel like it had kicked out....

Thanks guys for your replies. I know what you mean, tends to 'jump' sideways if hitting a bump in the road. Where's best source for buying new + likely cost?

Thanks again.

Regards

Ronnie

I bought mine from luke at z centre, or mjp eastern autos mike feeney...his likely cheaper but ive used luke for everything and his spot on for delivery times and very helpful so ive never looked at extra price just went straight ahead with him...

Jap spec rear shocks are the same for turbo and non turbo, the UK zeds did have electric damper adjustment as standard but due to the price most of those have been changed to the non electric ones. Nissan UK are the best source of course and armed with the part number any dealer can order them for you but be aware the price has risen over the past 4 years from £30 each to over £120 !! quite how Nissan can justify such a price hike is any ones guess. I agree fitting used ones is a temporary solution only, skipping sideways on turbo models is often a hicas arm / shock issue, on non turbo`s is the shocks as you have concluded.

Here is a picture of how the the guys in the US had their electric dampers switchable.......

Thanks Jeff for that info. It appears that I can get a pair of rear shockers from USA ebay for cheaper than buying here and that includes shipping and customs charges, bizarre!
