If you've had two 'boxes and they're both showing the same problem, could there be another issue instead?

I don't know enough about the slushbox in these, but could it be a gearbox ECU fault? Crappy connection somewhere maybe?

Are you certain that both boxes are faulty, mate?

I have a good Tt autobox. Don't know how much difference there is between them. I'm converting to manual so surplus to requirements. Can supply with torque converter and flex plate.... Collection only

It's weird... Both boxes fail as soon as they warm up... A few miles and normal running temp and she just revs up and rolls to a halt.

If I turn everything off, wait a couple of minutes she goes about 100 meters then same thing!

This time she is making a squealing noise and a sort of rumble from the auto box.....

Wondering now if the oil pump was fully engaged with the torque converter?

Seems weird both boxes are doing the same thing though as Mondo said....

it would of been or you could,nt have closed everything up matey;)

Might sound daft, but have you hooked it up to Conzult to see if everything's ok with the box?

Hi Russ, did you flush all the pipes to the cooler before fitting the new box, just a thought.

Hi, I flushed the cooler out and flexi lines.... Going to go and check fluid level again in a moment in case it has dropped ??

I'm going to blow out the hard lines tomorrow, drop the pan and check filter and o'ring.....

Spoke to a transmission companies specialist today who said he thinks it is lack of fluid..... either not enough put in, not flowing through cooler, blocked filter or o'ring......

He said the squealing noise is most likely a starved pump....

Well started her up and noise is now gone?

Drives forward and backward on driveway. Going to run diagnostic test on transmission.

Anyone got a NA transmission ECU for sale?

Just to rule that out as a problem..... (suggested by mechanics at work as both boxes showing the same fault)

Still need to get her in the air to clean out cooler hard pipes to check they are not blocked.....?

not debating your abilitys bud but this should be 100% certain its clean before each new box goes in and gets started...this might be the square root of your problem.

Hi Znut, I always appreciate any help or guidance you can give...... I cleaned out the cooler and had some transmission fluid pouring out of hardpipes so stupidly and hastily refitted without checking..... in hindsight.....AAARRRGGGHHH

If they are blocked it was me rushing to get her on the road for JAE..... Never thought to clean them out till problems started again......

Now I am not rushing as no point, just want to get her running right..... even the transmission guys at local specialist have told me to throw both boxes away.... BUT now i know that the RX7 auto box is the same box as the NA one.....RE4R01A

I'm looking at Mazda's as well as they are advertised a lot cheaper than a 300zx box....... Rebuild parts available from loads of suppliers and a winter to strip my old box and learn as much as I can about them.....
