Can anyone shed any light on this, I've searched and people say the speedo and the power steering go intermittently but mine is just the speedo, only started doing this a few days ago, it might stop working while I'm driving and come back again randomly??

probably caused by dried/cracked solder joints on the circuitboard of the speedo

 

You can fix this by resoldering (preferably all) solder joints on the board with a fine/precision soldering iron
