Took the Z to an auto-electrician yesterday to get them to give all the under-bonnet wiring the once over, paying special attention to the throttle pos sensor, ptu, coils, etc etc,

What a difference it has made, nice even tick over, seems to be more crisp aswell. It was something I had been putting off for ages but glad I got round to doing it, and not too much money either as its all labour and about 10p parts.

Ahhh, lovely.

Hmmm, when it comes to electrics, unless its something obvious, I generally leave well alone. And the more important factor is I haven't got the time, or a garage or or or or....... so I booked it in to the pro's at this stuff. I presume you can make up little looms, have access to switches, plugs, connectors, heat shrink etc and somewhere dry to do it all.

They had my car for half a day, alot of the connectors were just so brittle they were snapping off and crumbling to bits, luckily they had others that could be used. The bill came to about £130 but some of that was to fix a problem with my horn.

The co. is called METROLEC, in BECKENHAM, a landmark very near is the Crystal Palace tower. Their number is 020 8650 5363. Say James put you their way if you don't mind.

12 years ago when I was 18 I had a Ren5 gt turbo and had an under bonnet fire, it went to them and just couldn't believe what they did and have been going back since.

James.

I have to sort of agree with Paul here. It's something you should learn to do yourself. I personally clean and lubricate all the contacts at least once a year. The problem with the heat under the bonnet can cause nightmares as well as connectors coming loose, so it gives you the chance to check them all over...............

I thought the bill would be more than £130 for a good auto electician, so that sounds like a good place to go if you don't want to D.I.Y.

You're right, but some bits that I could see needed attention looked so fiddley -I just couldn't be bothered to get annoyed starting to do it. I have given my Z 100's of hours and this time thought I would let someone else do it!!

Sounds good to me, in my new found spirit of DIY car-bodging, I'll have to give it a go! Gotta get through my first ICE install yet though!!

Cheers,

Russ.
