ive just had a new sony head unit fitted - however the standard fascia surround that came with the stereo ( the bit of plastic that makes the stereo look flush) has not been fitted by the audio guys. hence the stereo has a big gap all the way around it and looks crap.

 

is this cos the surround wont fit? are the nissan din slots reknowned for being an awkward shape? or were the garage being lazy.

 

if it is that they are an awkward shape are there adaptors available??

 

PS just has new rear tyres fitted - replaced the balding Kumho Ecstas with Brdgestone SO3s.

 

tested them; before i was losing the back end in 3rd, in the damp, at this one roundabout.

 

with new tyres, i nailed it in 2nd, in driving rain, at the same spot. and the tyres stuck like glue.

dont bother with cheap tyres not worth it

You changed the same tyres I had the virtually the same tires I put on. I had the Kumho Ecstas with Bridgestone S02's. And I found the same thing. The Bridgestone grip better in the wet than the Kumhos did in the dry.

 

As for the radio. It wont fit. The ZX had its own radio size and didnt come into line to fit the normal radio dins untill later along the line.

I've had the same issue with my Sony head unit. In the end I just left the gap- you don't notice it after a while!!!

gutted - you would think that someone would make a spacer for it or something to fill the gap..?

Bit difficult to explain, but you can trim the plastic on the inside. Had my camera stolen last night at a party or I would send you a picture. Its the lower inner edge, trim it at an angle of about 45 degrees.

I know someone who sells Carbon fibre stereo face plates that you could cut to conseal the gap. Or Bob may have something.
