...Anyone tried and had success with this? My exhaust could use a nice polishing up and someone at work told me WD40 along with a scotch brite pad would do the trick.

So any experience with this or other suggestions would be welcomed :)

Cheers

Scotchbrite will scratch the material. OK to do the unfinished/unpolished areas inside the tips, but I wouldn't use it on the main polished sections. There are good enough chemicals and compounds on the market without dragging wire-wool over your tailpipes.

This is the type of answer I was looking for and expecting. Any recommendations?

Autosol is pretty good at cleaning exhaust tips and any stainless steel, i wouldnt use it on polished aluminum though

As above, Autosol is very good, on the pipework, Belgom Alu is pretty good also. Not quite as good on polished SS as Autosol is however.

Peek polish is very good, did my chrome clock surrounds and my exhaust (see my other threads)

I have Autosol & use Auto Glym resin polish on my exhausts too!
