i purchased myself a 52mm boost guage to go in a pod.

nothing wrong with the cluster one but as its a jdm car its got the dodgy hhmgk blar blar blar reading. i thought i would prefer to understand my cars boost reading in english (bar)

i did do a conversion guide to psi and found that the normal boost pressure 9.5psi according to the cluster pressure

i teed in the new boost gauge to the balance rail nipple that goes to the stock boost solenoid. this was advised reading what other people have done.

i am getting a max reading of 0.25 bar (3.62595psi) but the standard cluster reading is sits above 500 mmhg (9.6psi)

so am i only getting boost reading from one turbo ?

seems strange

any advice ?

thank you

oh and by the way i have read the ecu codes to see if my car was running in safety mode and its all clear 55

Putting some pictures up might help. It would be really really flat at 3psi so you'd know if it was that low. Both turbos produce 9+ psi you're bot getting half a reading.

Have you got a leak between the bar and the new gauge? Is the pipework too large? Have you teated the aftermarket boost gauge? What brand is it?

Hope some of this helps.

I would personally avoid doing that at all costs. You have what looks like the original harness. If you insist on steam cleaning it, then cover every single connector. If I was doing it, I'd be getting in there with a tooth brush and some strong degreaser spray in a little bottle, I wouldn't be pouring water into the engine bay.

I agree with Si about cleaning it by hand but I reckon there are 2 options open to you.

1) Clean it gently, a bit, with a toothbrush.

2) Clean it thoroughly with a credit card to hand to buy loads of new sensors, connectors and hoses. I would plan ahead to get stuck in one day with loads of new hose and stuff, you will fix some little leaks, future proof the rest of it, and learn a thing or two about the vac system along the way.

It's a mechanical gauge isn't it, so that line going up in the pic goes into the cabin. It could be pinched or whatever.

Nothing looks wrong to me if they are all securely on their fittings.
