Hi all,

Just thought I'd take a moment to make you aware of the recent demise of my beloved Z:(

Coming home from work, last Thursday night, I'm just going to pick the missus up from Swanley station, round the corner before the station - to discover, right in my face, on my side of the road, 5 local scallies in a Mazda 323.

Time for one word only (you know the one) then SMASH - straight into my front off-side at about 45-ish (I think) mph - I reckon I was only doing 25-ish, as just about to turn off.

Suffice it to say - a little shocked, as I sat in a pile of broken glasss repeating "F4ck me" over and over again. Cut my hands to ribbons climbing over the passenger seat to get out, to find the Mazda smashed to a pulp and the five aforementioned "types" effecting a runner (or "limper" in a couple of cases) In advance of the boys in blue.

I'm too shocked to know what's going on, but I can see that my beloved motor has saved me (thank Christ) from serious injury - cuts to hands on exit and stiff neck only.

As for the car - front offside wheel at a right angle and folded under the car, roof twisted and wing and some of door just ripped. Poor baby - I nearly burst into tears as I looked at my pride and joy sat in a pile of its own debris.

As for the cause of this accident, they got nicked when flagging down the ambulance - already out on bail as it goes and the word is from the WPC, they probably don't have a licence between 'em - of course, they immediately deny having been near the offending motor - "we were run over by a motorbike guvnor" - Bollocks.

I think there's enough of the driver on the steering wheel to tie it to him, plus one or two of his mates have placed him driving. Last I heard, the police are deciding what offences to prosecute for.

Anyhow, the rub is that me and the missus are due to go for a long weekend on Friday last at 5.30 a.m. So I've just got back and there's a zed-shaped hole on my driveway:(

God, I loved that car! F4ck me! F4ck me!

For sale and wanted, here I come.

CheerZ,

First of all.

I am glad you are OK and no one get seriously hurt.

Secondly, gutted about the car. I hope when you goto the wanted/for sale section you are looking to sell your scrap and buy an new one.

Also nice to know that the Z can stand an impact like that, I hear some people say they are death traps.

Cheers Stuart,

I'm not sure I can wait around for the length of time that it took last time to find my '94 UK manual (are there any left?) - may have to resort to a "stop-gap" - Great, yet another opportunity to lose money hand over fist - ah well, as you say at least all are still in one piece.

CheerZ,

John.

Glad to hear you're ok John, metal can be replaced, bodyparts are harder..

Scrotes like that should be found.. and then have things.. done to them..

Not that I ever said any of that, you understand..

im really sorry to hear whats happened mate :(

gald you got out ok though ,

so i take it you will get nothing from the culprits (or wankers as somemay call em) , and its a total insurance claim on your behalf ?

So sorry to hear about the car just glad you are ok.

I'll keep an eye out for a nice 94 manual for you.

Thanks Guys ....

Yeah, as far as I know so far, it's gonna be a total claim for me.:( Although the young lady in blue at the scene did say something about a fund for this kind of accident (which I thought I'd heard of), from which my insurers may be able to recoup their losses - if they can actually decide it wasn't my fault - we'll see.

Stuart, I'll check out "for sale" now:)

CheerZ,

John.

John you should concider buying back the wreck from the insurance company at least for the bits and in all fairness unless smashed to a million parts could most likely be repaired and you pocket some cash to boot.

Ask Emero we did it for her, sometimes nice to get your own car back.

Jeff TT

Someone mention my name:D

poor you

Glad you are not seriously hurt, maybe the lads who did it will think again

I tried wrapping mine round a roundabout

so i know how gutted you are feeling

I'm so glad to get my car back, insurance wrote it off, said it would cost 8,000 hahaahahahah

I spent months trying to find another in as good condition and not overly inflated price, to no avail,

so i bought it back

mine is uk spec 92 manual tt

jeff came to look at it and he fixed it

Happy bunny

this is what it should look like:D

Talk to Jeff if nothing else let him have a look, he'll tell you straight away

Good luck whatever you do;)

Bad luck. Sorry to hear this.

Could you break the Z ? Or repair it ?

Nelson, Emero, Jeff - Thanks for the wishes and the ideas -

I need to see the car in daylight, I guess, it looked pretty bad as it was towed away - the roof was twisted and the driver's door couldn't open as it had been shoved back into the trim for the rear quarterlight; I'm not sure it'll be in a fit state. Took some pictures when we got home, although need to be developed.

As for getting the car back, It may be an idea to recover it - there's an unmarked leather interior, the stereo, and 650 quids-worth of Z-centre stainless exhaust just to start with. So, I'll see what they say - currently waiting for the engineer's report to get my hire-car underway. Apparently the car's in Camberwell, so I'm not sure where it will go after that!

I'll keep you posted as to the fate of the car, plus its recoverable bits (if it's too bad to repair).

Royztt - it was a manual btw - I've tried to e-mail you on your hotmail, but it keeps bouncing back.

CheerZ,

John.

hi john,

just got back from a few days away.

damn bud, gutted for you :( hope you get it sorted one way or the other. if its uneconomical to repair & you get a payout & can get the car back, let me know as I have a few contacts in the bodyshop that may be able to repair it cheap for you. just let me know if you want to go down this route.

Gutted for you also John. Hope all goes well with the aftermath!

BTW I can do some contract work if you have "scrotes" names (who said that!).

Ivan

Gutted for you John:(At least you live to tell the tale.

Paul, Ivan and Macca ...

Cheers chaps. Appreciated. Still waiting for the engineer's report, but the feedback I've had so far suggests that I should try and buy it back, whatever happens. Need to establish the insurance company's policy (it's Bell Direct). If nothing else, I want to remove the 'zorst - it was only 3 months old FFS.

Paul, I'm not sure that it's gonna be able to be repaired, mate, the shell looked like it was twisted, and to be honest, I think I'm gonna try and get another one ASAP ... mind you, bearing in mind the frustration I had last time ... What am I saying????

BTW, doubly gutted as I have JWT chip sat at home on the sideboard, and APEXI AVC-R on the way! Roll-on that new Zed!

CheerZ,

John.

Hello John,

When you mentioned the chip and boost controller, I had a thought about people who might not tell their insurance about these things. Out of no fault of your own some little sh**es hit you and do a runner, the insurance find things that are not declared, then to top everything off your insurance would be void..............................just something for people to think about..........

Glad to hear your OK mate and good luck with the insurance!!

Vijay

John,

Glad you're OK. Gutted for your car.

 Gutted m8, glad you're allright though, you can get replace a zed :)

  • Author

Thanks Guys ... appreciate the sentiment.

Good point from Vijay, though, damn glad that I let them know about my 'zorst now ... I think everything else was standard ... I don't know if you have to declare 300zx.co.uk window stickers:confused: If so, then I could be f6cked yet!!!:(

I don't want to be seen to gain from your loss, more letting you know that you won;t have a problem shifting the car as spares, but if you do buy the car back and you get another Zed. You can put my name down for a zorst from either car.

  • Author

Certainly am hoping to recover the 'zorst - it's a lovely piece of stainless craftwork from Luke's emporium!!

If the new Zed's got the business attached, then I'll gladly get it sorted for you - after all, it would be nice to see someone on here profit from a sh1tty situation.

Ouch, John-boy - thank buddha you're OK.

Get your legal insurance on the case asap - and make sure you also claim for pain / distress etc as well as damage to the Z.

I found a place which can check the chassis alignment by ultrasound to within 1mm of Nissan spec. It cost me £80 and a morning. So if you wanted to see if the chassis is bent beyond repair or can be put back as good as new give them a call

D & G Cars Hayes Middx UB4 0SL 020 8561 9500

They are huge bodyshop - and this type of measurement appears to be streets ahead from either a manual jig or the "suspension out and re-jig to suspension points" at £400 - £500.

Thanks Gio .... Legal people are on it now, they seem anxious to pursue the little-sh1te who did the damage - don't know where they'll get, but apparently I need to see a doctor to check for any "soft tissue" damage - don't know what that is, but it sounds nasty:eek:

The car has been confirmed as a total loss - now just need to find out what the score is with recovering the wreckage. Trouble is, I don't have anywhere to store it, even if I can get it (not without fear of divorce:D ) - has anyone else had experience of this? Is there somewhere I could take it for dismantling?

CheerZ,

John.

:( Gutted for you, mate. Just glad that you are ok. When all is said and done, a Zed's just a lump of metal and other bits.

Hope you get another one / repair your one soon.

Take care.
