Tyre sizing frustrations.

As many know, tyre companies don't really standardise on tread width and profile. I'm finding it REALLY difficult to get tyres to fit my wheels that have zero stretch on them or a bulge. I can't stand stretched tyres and don't want this look at all!

When my wheels came over from Japan, they had 275 30 19 on the rear 10" wheel and 245 35 19 on the front 9" wheel.

Now the law of tyre fitting suggests that a 10" wheel should take between a 275 and 285. But since my rear wheel had what looked like a lot of stretch on it, I thought I'd try a 295 to see how close that was. Well, that was a little too big, but only just and I've gone for some 285 30 19 which are on their way (doing this all with part worns until I get the sizing correct).

So the fronts arrived today. A 255 35 19 which should give me a much flatter front tyre wall in my 9" wheel.....only I've fitted that and it looks near identical to the 245 that was on it before...ie, it has stretch.

Anyone else had this issue before? It's starting to annoy me.

Sorry to hear this Si, I'm going to be in the same boat when my wheels get back, JimmyTT used to be good at tire sizing for flush fitment, see if anyone on here can put you in touch with him as he's not online much.

Not the best picture but my rear tyres are almost perfect, the fronts far from it.

They are a 275/30 19 fitted on a 9.5j lmgt4

I would guess you would be very similar with the 285 on a 10j. For reference the tyres are kumho (not my choice)
