Last thing that's really bothering me, ideally I'd like to get them replaced at some stage but can't afford to drop €200 on roof trims just yet. Is there any kind of textured paint that would do well as a cheap fix? I've thought of just going over the bald batches with Bumper Black but that would probably look cheap.

Use a stanley blade to trim all the black off.

Mask off the body work and glass.

Paint with Plastidip if you want quick and easy, or with a satin black paint (after priming) for a longer lasting finish.

I just bit the bullet yesterday and ordered Luke's 6 piece trim kit at Zcentre. Pretty expensive with the exchange rate the way it is:blushing:

That looks really well Rolandas!! Was it expensive to get done or did you DIY them yourself??

Any problems removing and refitting them??

My thoughts exactly, sure the material wasn't cheap? Looks great but I'd rather just buy new ones if it's gonna cost me!

Diy. The only tricky bit is removing targa trim. But the is a write up somewhere. You don't need a lot of material

I did mine with grey prima & black plastic paint

One tin each under £15. U do need a Stanley blade to scrape off the paint!

Think I'll take this approach, looks pretty good.

My car has one of those stickers too, any idea what it is?

I used straight stanley blades not in the knife!

Wore garden gloves, its teadies to say the least & took me a couple of hours each side.

Tape up ur paint work & take ur time, u need to angle the blade to slice off the old coating.

Well worth the few odd hours this took! I think it'd look best with this done to all of them, but we've only done the windscreen trim and the small ones behind the targa tops as the rest aren't too bad yet.

Still kicking myself about a couple of small paint scratches though. Unsteady hands and a sharp blade shouldn't come close to a car :( all goes well I'd like to get a full respray this time next year anyway.

Top job there Jay, I'm too much of a coward to do stuff like this, I'd be afraid of making a shite of it!! Kinda of wish i'd got mine wrapped now instead of spending much needed funds on new ones:no:

Sure I still plan to buy a new trim set eventually.

Taxed for three months so €422, or do you mean VRT? That was €1602, fair really but I'll still appeal.

€422 for 3 months:shock::rant: Oh well, if i leave it off the road for 8 more years, i'll be eligible for vintage tax of €50. It really is a goddamn joke over here!! a 29year old Z would cost approximately €1800 to tax for a year but a 30 year old one doesn't need an NCT (MOT) and is €50 to tax for a year...Go figure
