There is a 2 day Drag race meet at York Raceway this weekend.

RWYB action available on both days.

York has a friendly and well organized event normally although the track surface is not anywhere as slick as Santa Pod.

I thought I might take a trip. Weatherwise Monday is looking drier ATM. Ideal practise for TOTB.

Meanwhile its time to get the Mickey Thompsons outta the shed and give them a reviving coat or two. They havnt been used since TOTB last year:scared:

I know with my low power I dont really need them and especially on the "Shell Grip" launch at York but they are good fun to use and can handle all the abuse I can throw at them.

There isnt normally another 300 to be seen there but you are welcome to join me if you just want a fun day out.:thumbup1:

I'd planned on going, but my zed isn't going to be on the road in time. :(

Ooops! Sorry to hear that.

Looks like I already covered that option in another post:whistling:

There probably wont be many even on the day as most 300s are "in build" or broken down or their owners are to busy polishing them to have time to drive them

:lol::lol:

Enjoy it Pete. Would love to join in but well you know. NA or TT these cars are horrid I launch nicely as you know. What size are they? Bit of sidewalls gotta help.

275/40-17. ET Street radial.

Road legal ... just.

Only safe in the dry .

I dont really agree that a 300ZX is horrid to launch.

My car launches nicely without any problem.... apart from its lack of power!!

Watch the vid of Bob on a good run like his 10 sec pass and you can really see how to launch a 300ZX.

Horrid launches are normally down to horrid drivers on cheap tyres:lol:

Edited by Slick Pete.

Well I can be a horrid person  to be fair the state of sone of the bushes that were changed on my rear subframe there's no wonder it was like a Ping pong ball.

Well SHOCK ... HORROR... went to York Dragway as planned and found.............................................

I was the only 300 as per usual:lol:.

So in a "billy no mates " style I was forced to take pics of my own car on a day out!!:innocent:

I had a great day out. Both car and driver were in top form.

I ran a 14.61 at 92mph with a 60ft of 2.1.

That ET is within 5/100s of a sec away from my personal best ever which I did at Santa Pod many years ago. Not bad for a first run out this year.

Of course the figures look poor in comparison to Twin Turbo car times but with only 235 bhp to get me moving I was well chuffed.

I know where I need and can improve too so a 14.5 or better is my next goal.

Pics...

First one of the RWYB class lanes.

Second one .. me lined up in myclass.. Class D which is 2litres and over. No Turbos, nitrous or slicks.

A much better system than the c*ap you have to endure in the fire up road at Santa Pod

Considering the weight of these cars, that sounds like a pretty decent time for a non turbo. Well done! I'd have gone, but mine isn't on the road yet. :(

Dan if you want to see weight saving then look at Pete's car. Minimalist is the word. Carbon boot lid too I believe. So far from stock

A lot of people were at the drifting Pete.. I should have been there fro the BH's this year with my lad but still trying to get my car back and working..

will be attending the BH meets very regularly when the car is back.. then the race will on for you.. :-)
