Had my boost gauge plumbed in for a while but the sparky keeps letting me down.

So In thought may as well hae a go at wiring up the gauge for illumination myself, can't be that hard LOL.

I've been told to open the cruise control pod and attach the wires then, but I'm not sure where to, can anyway that has a 1993 Jap TT tell me which wires to use?

I have attached a pic of the area I'm planning to use, just need to figure out which plug then which wires.

Cheers.

you need to get your testers out and find which wire goes live when you put the ignition on and the light switch turned to the first stage ( sidelight, ) or read the schematics and narrow it down , its not hard just take your time and work through them methodically,

So for clarity ring each wire on each connector looking for the wire that reads zero with the light switch off and 12 v with the light switch on, then tap into that for your live and run the ground to anywhere that will give a good ground on the body of the car,

That mightn't be the best location to do your connection, there isn't a lot of room to work in & the plastic mountings are easily broken.

Look for a GREEN wire with a RED tracer, that's an illumination wire.

Where is better?

The ignition ring light feed is longer and out of the way and easier to tap into, need the kick panel off then the binnacle to slide the ring off the barrel, there you will see the bulb holder on a wire tail, strip back both wires an inch or so away from the ring, then you have a chance to try the pod gauge light feed to determine which wire is positive.

If you dont want to cut any wires and have some time, get down to the bottom of the dash and the two prongs at the bottom are a light feed, left one as you look from the front is positive. Use a couple of ring crimps on the end of the wires from the pod gauge, undo the two screws at the bottom of the dash, and replace screw with the ring attached:thumbup1:

What he said :D

take off the small plastic triangle bit first and put it somewhere as you don't want to be looking for it later.

Depends on the series, but most ive worked on dont lol

So you're saying it only comes on when you turn on the lights?

That's strange as you would've already put the key in the ignition.

Most people would start the car & then turn on the lights & also turn off the lights & then turn off the ignition.

I know what youre saying, but on almost every zed in the UK ive come across the ignition ring lights up with the lights, some come on when you open the door as it should in reality, but thats down to the TCU, it may also be dependent on European/US/UK/ jap differences or regs.

I have as much time as needed mate :)

Do you have a more exact location for these two prongs?
