I went out for a drive in the zed last night after a long day of painting and decorating in the house, got back home around 11:30pm all was well.

Went out to goto work this morning at 7:30am to find the passenger door on my Toyota hilux wide open and the contents of my glovebox and armrest scattered all over the floor!

Now unfortunately i didn't lock the car last night as I was bringing bits in to house and just simply forgot, nothing was taken and presume they were after satnav or similar.

Who the hell do these people think they are to walk up a 30ft driveway checking door handles!

CCTV going up next weekend I think. :gun_bandana:

Always lock it mate these people are about everywhere and you had a lucky escape.

Indeed - but as you say Chris, who are these opportunists that will walk right up someone's driveway to check whether a car door is unlocked?

Fortunately nothing was stolen and your car wasn't damaged by being broken into....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Shows you just don't know what goes on while you are asleep!

I bought a cctv system last year but haven't got round to fitting it yet as we wasn't sure if we wanted to move or not. Luckily nothing was stolen mate ;)

They're opportunistic scum mate. CCTV won't bother them, they'll just hide their faces. The trick is to have as many deterrents as possible, so that they move to a less awkward house/area. These creatures will try anything for an easy buck!

A word of caution for everyone....

I was dealing with a convicted Burglar a while back and he told me that the difference between a £500 alarm and a £!500 alarm was feck all, the best thing to do is make sure you have motion sensors in as many areas as possible, He told me that he would lift the roof tiles and go into houses through the attic as few people bothered fitting motion sensors up there. Make sure your alarm fitter puts at least 2 motion sensors in your attic.

LED lighting is another cost effective deterrent, every night I have the front and rear lit up with very little energy costs. I also have 2 Spaniels that only really bark when someone is on my driveway. All these things draw unwanted attention to these scumbags and they don't like it so they pick easier targets. I live in a nice area and because of this there has been a few robberies, I think 3-4 high value cars have been stolen ('11 Audi A4 S-Line, '12 Passat cc etc.) in the last year. It's all about making it too much hassle and risk for them.

I've made it quite clear to anyone that knows me that the first one I catch on my property will be taking a trip to A&E before being locked away!!
